CWTS: Module 1
Task 1:
1. Section 2 – Declaration Policy of RA 9163 states that “It is hereby affirmed the
prime duty of the government to serve and protect its citizens. In turn, it shall be
the responsibility of all citizens to defend the security of the State and in
fulfillment thereof, the government may require each citizen to render personal,
military, or civil service.” How can you contribute to the State as a student of
NSTP?
- At a very young age, we are given the chance to contribute to the student through NSTP
by which we uphold the qualities and values that make up a responsible citizen of this
nation. An example for participating in NSTP is being a volunteer in community service
activities, disaster risk reducation preparations, and advocating optimistic future for the
following generations that also help the surrounding people and our environment by
showing kindness. In essence, we could impact the state by making it better. one way of
another. Honing our society to develop wholeheartedness helping each other build a
foundation that can only be strengthen with time and experience. Moreover, I will and
should apply the principles I am going to learn to demonstrate a role model not just for
my peers but for the youth and elderly.
2. In your own words, how do you define National Service Training Program?
- NSTP is a program in which we are made aware of our civic responsibilities and actions
to which might affect our knowledge and understanding of what it means to be a citizen
of this country. Furthermore, our patriotism is being honed as young individuals, as
future leaders of this nation we should be able to know how to defend ourselves and our
fellow countrymen by means of having freedom of expression and self-defense. Basic
components and values such as physical, moral, spiritual, intellectual, social well-being,
defense preparedness, and ethics of service are improved throughout this course to
adapt these as custom behavior in our society. As a young individual and student, I can
clearly see how this may help us affect what our future holds for us. I will fully embrace
the experience and work on myself to be what the mission and vision of this course aims
us to become.
3. Have you participated in voluntary, civic consciousness activity, or community
immersion programs before? Tell us about your experience.
- Yes, in one of our projects during our senior high school days, we were tasked to
perform a project in which we sold scraps for money to which it would be converted to
giving out free food for people on the streets. During this experience, we were not only
able to help our neighborhood and community lessen our unused plastics, metals, and
etc. But we were also able to feed starving people, especially kids that looks
malnourished because of being unable to complete three meals a day. Personally, our
work might have been small but gave a huge impact on those we were able to reach out.
This just proves that even small amounts of contribution could ultimately add up to being
a huge game changer for other people, specifically for those less fortunate individuals. It
helped us realize that we’re in a better place than we used to think, it woke us to the
reality that we should appreciate what we have rather than focusing on what we lack.
