IELTS Bar Chart Task 1 question (draft version)
The bar chart below shows the number of cars sold by three
different car manufacturers (Toyota, Ford, and Honda) in four
different regions (North America, Europe, Asia, and South America)
in 2023.
Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and
make comparisons where relevant.
The bar chart illustrates the proportion of cars sold by three different car
companies in four markets in 2023.
Overall, there was a significant increase in car selling in all manufactures.
Toyota consistently had the highest number of cars sold, whereas the lowest
is Honda. Also, North America is considered to be the most potential market
place, which usually had the highest sale volume, while Asia, Europe and
South America is the second, third and fourth respectively.
Toyota reached their highest car selling, which is five-hundred thousands, in
North America, whereas it is respectively four and three-hundred thousands
in Ford and Honda. Ford and Honda both had the same profit, which is one-
hundred thousand, in selling their cars in Europe, whereas Toyota
successfully sold more fifty thousand products.
The bar chart shows the number of visitors to three London
Museums between 2007 and 2012.
Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and
make comparisons where relevant.
Write at least 150 words
The bar chart illustrates the number of visitors coming to three famous
London Museum in six years, from 2007.
Overall, there was a slight drop in the number of people visiting museums in
2008 and 2009, since then the figures increased significantly and reached
their peak in 2012. National Gallery and British Museum recorded incredible
growth in the number of annual visitors, while this in Victoria and Albert
Museum decreased between 2007 to 2012.
At National Gallery, there was a gradual growth in the number of viewers,
from approximately six million in 2007 to over fifteen million people in 2012.
While the figures were about fourteen and ten million for Victoria and Albert
Museum and twelve and nearly fifteen million for British museum, in 2007
and 2012 respectively.
The most notable change was in 2009, during which all groups saw a drop in
the number of visitors, the lowest was in British Museum with over five
million people, while National Gallery and Victoria and Albert Museum was
six and eight million respectively.
The table illustrates the percentage of adults in urban and rural areas who
spend time on leisure activities in 1990 and 2010.
Overall, reading and playing were the most preferred activities by people in
both two years, in which reading led the highest figure, fluctuating around
60-80%. Whereas, animated play and photography showed less significant
contribution in these years, hovering around 10-20%.
In 1990, rural area surpassed urban area in all fields. The proportion of
people enjoy reading experienced the most significant growth, 61% in urban
and 71% in rural area. Whereas, animated play, playing, and photography in
richer place were 10%, 21%, and 7%, while 71%, 18%, 26%, and 14% in
poorer respectively.
By 2010, the figures experienced slight changes. Noticeably, urban and rural
area reported equally high engagement in reading, which also had the
highest percentage of participants. Meanwhile, the others had considerable
lower-percentage. Photography ranked the second place with 17% in urban
and 26% in rural area, followed by playing just lower in urban figure (14%).
Animated play had the humblest proportion of watchers in both urban (10%)
and rural area (14%).
The diagram below shows the water cycle, which is the continuous
movement of water on, above and below the surface of the Earth.
The picture demonstrates the cyclical process of water, which happens in
three particular conditions.
Overall, the water is described on, above and below the Earth’s surface. The
loop can be started at the evaporation of water in the ocean, followed by
condensing water vapour to format clouds, the next stage is precipitation,
subsequently, the water is absorbed into ground water then follows
impervious layer to flow into the sea, and from this point, the water
continues indefinitely the repetition.
Initially, the water begins its journey with the evaporation stage, which is the
process of a liquid changing in to gas. The huge amount of water comes from
ocean, which contributes about 80% of total water vapour in air. There is
another smaller cycle of salt water intrusion, where the salt from the ocean
intrudes into the sea land and then effect conversely into the ocean, is drawn
in this diagram. The evaporation leads to the water vapour condensation
which helps to create clouds.
Once the clouds are formed, water keeps their itinerary to come back to the
surface of the Earth through precipitation. This weather phenomenon is
called rain. When it rains at the top of the mountain, water freezes into snow
because of the low temperature. The other fells off the surface, of which
drops into the valleys that creates lakes. All these processes happen above
the surface of the Earth.
Subsequently, the water on the surface is absorbed into the groundwater,
then join with the imperious layers to come back to the ocean. From here,
water repeats its closed cycle.
The diagram shows how to recycle plastic bottles.
Overall, there are nine main steps to do, beginning with throwing and
transporting, followed by sorting and compressing, then the curds are
crushed into plastic pellets, next they are heated to make raw material to
produce final products. Repeatedly, the plastic products after using are put
into rubbish and continue the recycled cycle.
Initially, the plastic wastes are put into a container, then delivered by a truck
to recycling center. In here, they are carefully sorted to unrecycled and
recycled groups, which can continue their recycling journey. Subsequently,
the materials are meticulously molded as blocks and crushed into
microplastic particles. After being washed by particular liquid, they are made
plastic pellets.
In the next step, these pellets are heated at high temperature until they
reach the suitable condition to make raw material. Consequently, raw
materials are processed to produce the end products to distribute to
potential customers. Once people take advantages of these products, they
throw them back to the bin, which keeps the closed cyclical process of
recycling plastic bottles.
The maps demonstrate the layout difference of a public park between 1920
and the present day.
Overall, there is a similarity of division parts, both 1920 and now have four
areas. Also, the two roads and an entrance is kept, and the land size is still
unchanged.
