Overview of SuperGIS Desktop
This chapter mainly introduces the installation and licensing of SuperGIS Desktop 10. The main interface and basic manipulation are also included
in this chapter. After users install the software completely, they can follow the chapter and get to know SuperGIS Desktop more.

How to Setup SuperGIS Desktop
To setup SuperGIS Desktop successfully, the software is highly recommended to be installed using an administrator account. Before the
installation, please make sure .NET Framework 3.5 (or above version) has been installed.
1. Start Windows. Put the SuperGIS installation CD to CD-ROM, and the setup program will auto-run to install SuperGIS.
2. Installation starts. Please wait for the system. Then select "Install".

4. Please read the License Agreement and check “I agree with the license agreement” to confirm. And click "Next" button.
5. Step 3 - 5, install some prerequisites, SuperGIS Desktop and SuperGIS Engine. The installing windows dialog will show an updated status of
the installation process. Click "Next" button after completing installation.
6. All installation are completed. Click "Finish" and restart the computer.
7. As the computer starts, the installation is completed.
NOTE: If the setup program does not run automatically, you could click "My Computer" on the desktop and click the CD-ROM to click the
"[Link]" program. Then, you can follow the steps described in Automatic Setup.

Get the License
1. On the lower-left corner of the computer, click Start > Programs > Supergeo > License Verifier to open ”Supergeo License Verifier ” dialog box.
2. In ”Supergeo License Verifier ” dialog box, choose “SuperGIS Desktop ” and choose “Single License.”
3. Click "Next."
4. Please choose the item “Input serial number to get license file from Supergeo”, and key in the serial number in the edit box.

5. If you have keyed in the serial number, please click "Finish."
6. “Receiving license file succeeded” dialog box shows up.
7. You have got the license successfully. Please click "OK."
8. Welcome to use SuperGIS Desktop 10.1.
NOTE: There are 2 types of SuperGIS Desktop serial numbers, which are for Standard edition and Professional edition. If you use Standard
edition, VBA Customization, Topology, and Geodatabase are not available; if you use Professional edition you can use the full functions in
SuperGIS Desktop 10.1.
NOTE: Users are able to start and manipulate SuperGIS Desktop 10.1 on probation without license for 20 minutes (trial mode).

Overview of SuperGIS Desktop
After the setup is finished, you can start SuperGIS Desktop 10. Please add the layer file to edit and you can move the toolbar or dialog by yourself.
Or you can go to "Tools" menu > "Customize" to have advanced settings. The following is the basic function and operation introduction.

Basic Functions
Main Menu: Includes "File", "Edit", "View", "Selection", "Tools", "Window" and "Help." Most of the functions can be found on main menu.
File: saves the file and opens, prints, exports map and closes SuperGIS, etc.
Edit: includes the editing, finding of features and bookmaking settings.
View: includes the switch between map view and layout view and the SuperGIS interface settings.
Selection: sets the selection tools and selection mode.
Tools: uses the SuperGIS analysis tools including charts, add XY data, grid maker, geoprocessing and buffer analysis.
Window: includes overview, magnifier and viewer.
Help: it is about the online manual and version information.
Map Window: it is the area used to edit or cope with the map and layers.

The Screen and Map Coordinates Data: it shows the coordinates of the mouse pointer's location and the map's longitude and latitude.
Goto Button: Next to The Screen and Map Coordinates is "Goto" button . You can double-click the "Goto" button to open "Goto" dialog box and
type the map coordinates to center the specific location.
Quick Menu: in SuperGIS right-clicking mouse on "Commonly Used Menu", "Map Window" or "The Table of Contents" will open the relative quick
menu.
Table of Contents: lists all of the layers displayed on the map window.

Commonly Used Toolbar
The toolbar provides the functions of general, browsing query, edit, draw and layout. It also can be customized by yourself through "Tools" menu >
"Customize" > "Toolbar." Or you can set by giving a check through right-clicking mouse on commonly used toolbar.

2. Map Toolbar: provides tools for map browsing. For instance, there are "Zoom in/out" tools for browsing and "Find" tool can query attribute data
so users have better understanding about the spatial data.
3. Draw Toolbar: includes graphics and text editing tools.
4. Graphics Toolbar: it can be used to set the alignment, order, size and rotation of graphics.

Context Help
Besides manual, SuperGIS Desktop also adds "Help" button on the user interface which allows you to click the interface to check the function of
each buttons during the manipulation. Moreover, "Help" button is also added in each dialog box, and it is convenient for users to click the button,
drop-down menu, text box, etc of the window to show its help. Thus, you will be able to manipulate SuperGIS Desktop easily.
• "Help" button on Standard toolbar:
1. Firstly, click "Help" button on Standard toolbar.
2. As the mouse cursor becomes , you can click the buttons on other toolbars to show the contents of the buttons.
• "Help" button of dialog box:
Click the button on the right-upper corner of dialog box. As the mouse cursor becomes , you can click the text box, button, drop-down
menu in the dialog box. Then the help contents of the clicked one will appear.

When any “shortcut key” listed below is pressed, the assigned navigation tool will immediately function and the mouse tool in use will stop; when
the shortcut key is released, the mouse tool in use will return and function.

NOTE: To use ”Continuous pan and zoom”, please hold B key and click mouse left key on the map. To move mouse upward can zoom in; to move
