Assignment Overview:
The purpose of this assignment is to help you reflect on how language is used in your teaching and to
begin designing more effective language objectives that support student learning in English across
content areas.
Important:
This is a reflective assignment. There are no perfect answers. Focus on making meaningful
connections between the readings and your own teaching practice.
Part 1: Identify Your Lesson
Select one lesson you have already taught (or recently planned). Provide the following:
• The content objective of the lesson
• The language objective (if you included one; if not, write what it was or what it could have been)
Part 2: Analyze and Improve Your Objectives
Create a table where you analyze and improve your objectives based on the readings (SIOP + LO Menu).
What is missing or could
Original Objective Improved Objective
