According to Reference – 01 and 02, the Research Fellowship Project Scheme (Major and Minor Projects) in Higher Education is

launched to make the research programmes of the regular faculty members of state, private and sectoral universities and Government
as well as Grand-in-Aid colleges in various disciplines of higher and technical education more effective. The aim if the scheme is to

promote excellence in research in higher and technical education. The details of the scheme are as below:

1. The name of the scheme shall be "Research Fellowship Scheme (Major & Minor Research Projects in Higher Education)."

2. Under this scheme, financial assistance as specified in Table-1 shall be provided for Major and Minor Research Projects

undertaken by the Principal, Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor, Lecturer, Librarian, and Physical Training

Instructor (PTI) of all universities (Government, Sectoral, and Private) and higher technical education colleges (Government and

Grant-in-Aid).

3. Under each subject specified above, financial assistance shall be provided for one (01) Major Research Project and one (01) Minor
Research Project. The selection of these projects shall be made on the basis of the marks obtained during the screening session

conducted by the Subject Expert Committee.

4. If it is considered necessary to include any additional subject(s) apart from those mentioned above, such subject(s) may be added

by the Commissioner of Higher Education/Director and the CEO, Knowledge Consortium of Gujarat (KCG).

The eligibility criteria for availing assistance under this scheme shall be as follows:

1. The applicant Principal / Professor / Associate Professor / Assistant Professor / Lecturer / Librarian / Physical Training Instructor
(PTI) must be serving as a regular employee (drawing salary as per the pay scales prescribed by the Government of Gujarat) in any

Higher Education or Technical Education University (Government, Sectoral or Private) or Higher and Technical Education College
(Government or Grant-in-Aid) in the State of Gujarat. Contractual, ad hoc, or visiting faculty members shall not be eligible for

assistance under this scheme.

2. The Research Project for which assistance is sought under this scheme must not have received any financial assistance from any

international, national, or state-level scheme, or from any Government or private organization. The applicant shall submit an
undertaking confirming the same.

3. The Subject Expert Committee shall evaluate the applications received under this scheme based on the following criteria:

4. For selection under any subject, a Major or Minor Research Project must secure a minimum of 60 marks in the screening session
conducted by the Subject Expert Committee constituted by KCG. Projects securing less than 60 marks shall not be considered for

selection.
5. The Knowledge Consortium of Gujarat (KCG), Ahmedabad, shall constitute the Subject Expert Committee and carry out the related

proceedings.
6. The financial assistance sanctioned to the selected applicants under this scheme shall be credited directly to the applicant's bank

account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

7. If any Principal / Professor / Associate Professor / Assistant Professor / Lecturer / Librarian / PTI is found to have obtained

assistance fraudulently by furnishing false information, false certificates, or forged documents, the entire amount of assistance
shall be recovered from such person along with applicable interest and penalty. Appropriate disciplinary and legal action shall also

be initiated.

8. If any Professor/Lecturer, after receiving assistance under this scheme, fails to undertake the approved Research Project or does
not complete it within the prescribed time limit applicable to the category of assistance, the entire assistance amount shall be
recovered along with applicable interest and penalty.

Application Procedure

1. Eligible Principal / Professor / Associate Professor / Assistant Professor / Lecturer / Librarian / PTI desirous of availing assistance
under this scheme shall submit an application in the prescribed format in accordance with the prescribed guidelines through cogent
portal.
2. Applicants from Universities shall submit the prescribed certificate issued by the Registrar, while applicants from Colleges shall

submit the prescribed certificate issued by the Principal.

3. Applications submitted by the Principal / Professor / Associate Professor / Assistant Professor / Lecturer / Librarian / PTI shall be

placed before the Subject Expert Committee. The Committee shall approve or reject the applications based on the prescribed
criteria and recommend the approved proposals to KCG for sanction of financial assistance.

The applications for Research Fellowship Project Scheme (Major and Minor Projects) in Higher Education are invited on COGENT

portal from 3rd August, 2026, 16.00 hrs to 18th August, 2026 16.00 hrs.
