YouTube Pattern Finder &

Researcher (Technical)

About this Role

Cutting Edge Group produces a lot of organic YouTube content about Technology and Design.
This content has been loved by millions of professionals globally. However, making interesting
YouTube Videos requires a lot of intent and research. More than editing and scripting, your
topic, title, and thumbnail carry the most weight.

A YouTube Pattern Finder & Researcher is responsible for these 3 components, which is why it’s
the most influential role on our YouTube Team. This one person decides where the entire team
will invest their daily efforts.

At the end of this document, you will get an assignment and a Google Form to submit that
assignment as well. That assignment shouldn’t take you more than 4 hours. Please make sure
you complete the assignment within 48 hours of receiving it.

Your Key Responsibilities

1. Doom scrolling YouTube every single day, carefully monitoring what people are
interested in, what is working for our competitors, what is not working for us and
recognising where the audience is paying more attention.
2. Research, evaluate, and shortlist new trending topics before any other tech channel
picks them up. This is done by regularly scanning X and Newsletters.
3. Finding patterns in successful thumbnails and YouTube Titles, being able to capture the
core emotion behind why something works and why it doesn’t.
4. Remember these patterns, insights, and behavioural observations, and convey them to
the YouTube Manager, Writers, and Editors. Different people require different patterns,
and the Pattern Finder highlights what’s working on YouTube.

How will you benefit from this?

1. Fast growth in both income levels and skill levels.

2. Direct access to Brand Managers and Creators working on the biggest tech brands in the
world (Google, Microsoft, Figma, OpenAI, NVIDIA and more)
3. Direct mentorship from Ansh Mehra and our team, which has scaled to 1M+ followers.
4. Have access to some of the smartest people in the field of AI, Design & Content.

so our Manager can go through them.
4. Taking screenshots of new YouTube Videos, so you can share new ideas and concepts
with the editors.

Your Assignment

This is an unpaid assignment that will help us determine whether you will fit well in this role. You
should not spend more than 4 hours completing this assignment. Our goal is not to measure
your technical skills. We want to see how you act, think and behave when time is limited, and
you’ve been given a completely new challenge.

1. You need to go to the AI Section on the Verge and pick any one topic you find very
interesting.
2. Then, you need to go on YouTube and figure out if someone has made any content on
that specific news or even on topics related to that niche.
3. Once you’ve shortlisted 3-4 Tech AI YouTube Channels (Inspiring examples include Nate
Herk, Nick Saraev, Mo Bitar, First Post, Greg Isenberg) you need to watch their content
and find patterns in their thumbnail, title and hook.
4. After spotting recurring patterns, you need to figure out how you can replicate those
patterns and plan a fresh new YouTube Video on that topic you read on Verge.
5. You then need to make a Google Document where you paste all the screenshots you
referenced, all the titles you liked, explain the news, and then pitch a thumbnail concept,
YouTube Title, and a brief overview of the perspectives we need to cover in that YouTube
Video. Do not use AI results as the finish line. We want to test your real intelligence (not
AI Prompting Skills)
6. Bonus Points if you end up making the thumbnail with Ansh’s face or whatever your idea
was, using any LLM (like ChatGPT or Gemini) because now making thumbnail ideas has
become very simple.
7. Then you need to make a 4-5 minute long Loom Video explaining your document and
your thought process in English. Make sure your webcam is on so we can verify it’s you
speaking without a script or teleprompter.
8. Once your loom is done, you need to submit the link and public access link to your pitch
document on this Google Form here.

Once done, we will reach out to you within 7 business days, if your application gets selected.
