Transformer Notes

Transformers are static devices that function to step-up or step-down voltage while maintaining constant power and frequency, operating solely on AC. They utilize the principle of mutual induction, with primary and secondary windings for input and output, respectively. Key characteristics include low core reluctance for better coupling, infinite insulation resistance in ideal cases, and the potential for primary winding damage if DC is applied.

TRANSFORMER NOTES (Hindi)

1. No Load Current: 2% to 5% of full load current. Determined by open circuit test.

2. Transformer is a static device (no moving parts, no friction loss).

3. Main function: Voltage ko increase (step-up) ya decrease (step-down) karna.

4. Power (kVA) constant rehti hai, frequency bhi constant rehti hai.

5. Transformer works only on AC, DC par kaam nahi karta.

6. Principle: Mutual Induction (Faraday’s Law).

7. Primary winding → input, Secondary winding → output.

8. Electrically isolated but magnetically connected.

9. Rating: kVA ya MVA.

10. Turns ratio: V2/V1 = N2/N1.

11. Frequency constant rehti hai, voltage & current change hote hain.

12. Core ka reluctance low hona chahiye for better coupling.

13. Insulation resistance between primary & secondary = infinite (ideal case).

14. Leakage flux depends on load current.

15. DC supply dene par primary winding burn ho sakti hai.

16. Amplifier power badha sakta hai, transformer nahi.

17. Transformer size inversely proportional to frequency.

18. Induction motor works similar principle as transformer.

19. Flux equation: E = 4.44 f Φ N.

20. Transformer ka main kaam: electrical energy transfer without direct connection.
