Chapter 7 — Integrals (Practice Paper)
Syllabus Coverage: NCERT Sections 7.1 – 7.5 only
Time Allowed: 1 hour Maximum Marks: 28
Difficulty: Moderate to Hard Type: Subjective (No MCQs)
General Instructions:
1. All questions are compulsory.
2. This paper is divided into four sections — A, B, C and D — carrying 2, 3, 4 and 5 marks
respectively.
3. This paper is strictly limited to NCERT Sections 7.1–7.5 (Methods of Integration, Particular
Functions and Partial Fractions). No definite integrals or integration by parts.
4. Show all steps of integration clearly; the method used carries weight, not only the final answer.
5. Use standard NCERT integration formulae and identities wherever applicable.
SECTION A — Questions 1 – 3 carry 2 marks each
Q1. Evaluate: ∫ 2x / (1 + x²)² dx [2 marks]
Q2. Evaluate: ∫ sin³x dx [2 marks]
Q3. Evaluate: ∫ ex [ 1/x − 1/x² ] dx [2 marks]
SECTION B — Questions 4 – 6 carry 3 marks each
Q4. Evaluate: ∫ dx / [ x (x⁴ + 1) ] (Hint: put x⁴ = t) [3 marks]
Q5. Evaluate: ∫ (x² + 1) / [ (x² + 4)(x² + 9) ] dx [3 marks]
Q6. Evaluate: ∫ dx / ( 5 − 4x − 2x² ) [3 marks]
SECTION C — Questions 7 – 8 carry 4 marks each
Q7. Evaluate: ∫ (3x − 2) / √(x² + 2x + 3) dx [4 marks]
Q8. Evaluate: ∫ dx / ( 3 + 2 sinx + cosx ) (Hint: use the substitution t =
tan(x/2)) [4 marks]
SECTION D — Question 9 carries 5 marks
Q9. Evaluate, showing complete steps of partial fraction decomposition: ∫ (x² +
x + 1) / [ (x + 2)(x² + 1) ] dx [5 marks]
