Staff Appearance Policy [Head Office]
PURPOSE
This policy is designed to guide colleagues on the required standards of dress and appearance in the
workplace. Colleagues’ appearance must be professional at all times both within the workplace and
when representing the Company.
SCOPE
This policy will apply to all colleagues. Iceland recognises the diversity of cultures and religions of its
colleagues and will take a sensitive approach when this affects dress and uniform requirements. At
all times colleagues’ attire must enable them to fulfil all aspects of their role and allow the company
to deliver on customer service. Priority will be given to health and safety, security and other similar
considerations in line with our legal obligations.
KEY PRINCIPLES
As a colleague of Iceland you are an ambassador of our brand of which we are extremely proud. It
is your responsibility to follow the dress code principles to ensure the brand of Iceland can be
identified by both external and internal customers and visitors to any of our stores or offices.
Colleagues should positively reflect the brand image at all times when in uniform.
• Where the role requires it colleagues will be issued with a uniform relating to their job role.
• Uniform must be worn throughout working hours.
• For roles that do not require a uniform Head Office colleagues are required to wear appropriate
business attire conducive to a professional working environment.
• Business attire for men includes suits, shirts and trousers.
• Business attire for women includes trousers and skirts, smart blouses, tops or dresses.
• Departments that work over weekends may adopt a slightly less formal approach over the
Saturday and Sunday given the expectation that there would be no external visitors over this
period. Clothing is still required to be in keeping with the brand image.
• When visitors are expected to be at Head Office over a weekend period the expectation for
formal business attire will be communicated in advance and should be adhered to as above.
• All employees must be clean and well-groomed. Grooming preferences dictated by religion or
ethnicity etc. are not restricted but should always be well-presented
• Items that are not considered appropriate business attire and therefore not permitted include:
• Scruffy, torn or ripped clothing
• Short skirts
• Low cut t-shirts, blouses and transparent clothing
