Activity 1: A Day in My Life as a Pre-Colonial Tagalog


Imagine that you are living in a pre-colonial Tagalog community before the arrival
of the Spaniards. Based on Fr. Juan de Plasencia's Customs of the Tagalogs, create a one-
page profile that accurately represents your life during that period.
Your output must include the following:
1. An illustration of yourself wearing appropriate pre-colonial Tagalog clothing. You may
create your illustration through drawing or by using cut-out pictures.
2. Choose your social class from one of the following:
 Datu
 Maharlika
 Timawa
 Aliping Namamahay
 Aliping Saguiguilid
3. Write a diary entry (5–8 sentences) describing a typical day in your life. Your diary
should include:
 Your name
 Your occupation
 Your daily responsibilities
 Your role in your barangay

Reminder: Ensure that your work is historically accurate and based on the information
discussed in class and the assigned reading.
