GRAMMAR FOCUS: ADVERB PLACEMENT


• Already (sooner than expected) & Just (a very short time ago): Between have/has and past participle (e.g., I have already
eaten sushi).
• Ever (in questions) & Never (negative meaning): Between have/has and past participle (e.g., Has she ever stayed at a youth
hostel?).
• Yet (until now): At the end of negative sentences or questions (e.g., They haven't visited the theme park yet).

Exercise 1: Advanced Reading Comprehension

Read the paragraph and answer the questions in full sentences using the correct adverb (already, yet, just, ever, never).

It’s 8:00 PM, and Lucas is having a crazy day. He has just returned home from the airport! He is an avid blogger and has
already written three posts about his trip today, but he hasn't uploaded the videos to his blog yet. Lucas loves adventure:
he has already visited five theme parks this year and has just bought tickets to a rock concert for tomorrow night. However,
he is on a strict budget, so he has never stayed in a 5-star hotel; he always stays at youth hostels. He was even interviewed
at the airport earlier, but he has never been on live TV before.
