QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Grade 12 (Essential)
• A Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or Manufacturing engineering (Essential)
• 7+ years’ experience with 4+ years technical leadership experience in a project
industrialisation environment. (Essential)
• Automotive / aeronautical manufacturing exposure (must have been through a cycle with a
major OEM) (Essential)
• Project Management (Advantageous)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership
• Drive performance and execution to ensure operational efficiency within the Engineering team.
• Implement performance management tools, including Performance and Potential
Assessments, to embed a culture of accountability.
• Monitor and enforce timely and high-quality completion of performance assessments across
all functions.
• Define and control strategic targets for employee and leadership activities to support
organisational goals.
Project
• Lead and coordinate all activities required to design, industrialise, validate and stabilise
manufacturing processes from pre-assembly through to finished goods.
• Establish and drive disciplined project governance and execution systems, including milestone
tracking, stage-gate reviews, resource planning and escalation mechanisms to ensure
predictable delivery and early identification of deviation risks.
• Lead structured change management across engineering and manufacturing operations,
ensuring that design changes, process modifications and programme adjustments are fully
assessed for impact, properly approved and effectively embedded into operational practice.

Customer Industrialisations
• Lead customer-focused systems thinking across industrialisation programmes, ensuring
engineering decisions are fully integrated with manufacturing capability, quality requirements,
supply chain readiness and end-to-end customer outcomes such as delivery performance,
cost and zero-defect targets.
Engineering governance and change control
• Manage the end-to-end process change control process (process modifications, parameter
changes, tooling updates, layout adjustments, and work instruction changes) from request
through assessment, approval, implementation, and closure.
• Ensure all process changes are fully assessed for impact on quality, safety, capacity, cycle
time, equipment capability, and cost before implementation.

Manufacturing Support

• As the custodian of the process, ensure nothing is changed or amended without explicit
approval.
• Ensure robust technical support for production systems and processes, including rapid
diagnosis and resolution of process issues affecting safety, quality or throughput.
• Drive manufacturing performance improvement through engineering-led problem solving,
using structured methodologies (e.g. root cause analysis, LEAN, etc) to eliminate recurring
issues and improve process capability and reliability.

Financial Impact and contribution


• Lead engineering decisions with clear commercial accountability, ensuring product, process,
tooling and capital investment decisions deliver agreed business case returns, margin
expectations and long-term competitiveness.
• Drive engineering-led cost reduction and productivity initiatives, identifying and delivering
value improvement, waste elimination, localisation, material optimisation and process
efficiency opportunities across the product lifecycle.
Risk Management
• Proactively identify, assess and mitigate engineering and operational risks across safety,
quality, delivery, financial and reputational dimensions, ensuring early escalation and
structured resolution of issues that could impact performance.

Stakeholder Relationship
• Lead clear, timely, and data-driven communication across stakeholders, ensuring technical
decisions, programme progress, risks, constraints and recovery actions are communicated
with transparency, accuracy and appropriate escalation.
