SLIDE 1 – TITLE SLIDE
“Good day everyone. Today, we will discuss Workforce and Human Capital Management, particularly
focusing on talent strategy, innovative staffing models, staff well-being, leadership development, and
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion or DEI.
Healthcare organizations depend heavily on their workforce because healthcare workers are considered
the backbone of patient care. In this presentation, we will explore how healthcare institutions can
strengthen and sustain their workforce despite the challenges faced in the healthcare industry today.”
SLIDE 2 – OBJECTIVES
“At the end of this presentation, learners should be able to analyze the current healthcare workforce
challenges experienced by healthcare institutions.
We will also identify modern staffing, recruitment, and retention strategies that healthcare organizations
use to maintain workforce stability.
Additionally, we will explain the importance of leadership development and workforce sustainability,
discuss the role of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in improving patient outcomes, and evaluate emerging
trends affecting healthcare workforce management.”
SLIDE 3 – INTRODUCTION
“Healthcare workforce management today focuses not only on staffing but also on quality patient care,
workforce sustainability, leadership development, and organizational resilience.
Healthcare workers are considered the greatest asset of every healthcare institution because they
directly influence patient safety and healthcare quality.
According to the World Health Organization or WHO, global healthcare workforce shortages may reach
10 million workers by the year 2030. This highlights the urgent need for healthcare organizations to
develop effective workforce management strategies.”
SLIDE 4 – WHY WORKFORCE MANAGEMENT MATTERS
“Workforce management is essential because it improves patient safety and healthcare quality. Skilled
and motivated healthcare workers help healthcare institutions provide efficient and safe patient care.
It also enhances employee satisfaction and productivity. When healthcare workers feel supported and
valued, they become more motivated and perform better.
Healthcare organizations today also face increasing burnout and turnover rates, especially after the
COVID-19 pandemic. Because of this, human capital management has become a major priority in
healthcare institutions.”
SLIDE 5 – CURRENT HEALTHCARE WORKFORCE CHALLENGES
“There are several major challenges affecting the healthcare workforce today.
First is burnout and stress among healthcare workers due to heavy workloads and long working hours.
Second is the migration of healthcare professionals to other countries in search of better compensation
and career opportunities.
Third is the aging healthcare workforce, where many experienced healthcare professionals are already
approaching retirement.
Another challenge is rapid technological advancement, which requires healthcare workers to
continuously learn new skills and adapt to digital systems.
Lastly, many hospitals and healthcare facilities continue to experience workforce shortages.
In the Philippines, nurse migration remains a significant issue, and many healthcare workers experienced
severe exhaustion during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.”
SLIDE 6 – TALENT STRATEGY IN HEALTHCARE
“Talent strategy refers to the methods healthcare organizations use to attract, develop, and retain
healthcare professionals.
This includes flexible staffing, skill-mix optimization, telework for non-clinical roles, allied health role
expansion, and workforce planning during shortages.
These strategies help healthcare organizations improve workforce efficiency, reduce burnout, and
maintain continuity of patient care.
Effective talent management is important because healthcare institutions rely on competent and
motivated healthcare professionals to deliver quality healthcare services.”
SLIDE 7 – FLEXIBLE STAFFING
“Flexible staffing is a modern staffing approach that allows healthcare organizations to adjust workforce
allocation depending on patient needs and staffing situations.
Examples include float pool staffing, flexible scheduling, cross-training employees, hybrid work
arrangements, and telework for non-clinical roles.
Healthcare institutions also use telehealth consultations, remote medical coding, and rotational staffing
systems during workforce shortages.
Flexible staffing provides several benefits. It improves workforce flexibility, reduces staff fatigue and
burnout, and helps maintain continuity of healthcare services even during emergencies or staffing
shortages.”
