WHAT IS AN ARTICLE?
An article is a piece of writing meant for a newspaper, magazine, school wall magazine, or website. It
shares information, opinions, or ideas about a topic with the reader. A good article is well-organised,
informative, and interesting to read.

Format of an Article
Part What to Write Approx. Words
Title Catchy, clear, and related to the topic 3–6 words
By (Author) Your name below the title —
Introduction Introduce the topic; grab reader's attention 20–30 words
Body (Para 1) Main idea with facts / reasons / examples 30–40 words
Body (Para 2) Supporting points / causes / effects 30–40 words
Conclusion Summary + your opinion or call to action 20–25 words

Useful Tips
✓ Word limit for Class 6: 100–150 words
✓ Use simple, clear language. Avoid very long sentences.
✓ Give a catchy title — it attracts the reader.
✓ Use facts, examples, or reasons to support your ideas.
✓ End with a strong conclusion — a suggestion or message.
✓ Write in third person (he/she/they/we) unless the topic asks for personal opinion.

In today's world of screens and gadgets, many children have forgotten the joy of reading books. Books are
our best friends — they entertain us, educate us, and open up new worlds for us.

Reading regularly improves our vocabulary, sharpens our thinking, and helps us perform better in all
subjects. Story books spark our imagination, while non-fiction books give us knowledge about the real
world.

Let us make reading a daily habit. Even 20 minutes a day can make a big difference. Remember — a
