Campus Restroom Facilities Improvement Report

Executive Summary
This report reviews the condition of the campus restroom facilities and summarizes the
main issues experienced by students. The survey results show that the most common
problems are the lack of running water and soap that often runs out, which makes it
difficult for users to maintain proper hygiene. Some students also mentioned
unpleasant odors and floors that are sometimes dirty. These findings suggest that the
maintenance of the restroom is not carried out regularly. To improve the situation, this
report recommends more frequent checks of water and soap supplies, adjusting the
cleaning schedule during busy hours, improving ventilation, and providing a simple
way for students to report any issues so they can be addressed quickly.

Introduction
Toilet facilities are an essential part of campus infrastructure, playing a vital role in
maintaining hygiene, comfort, and convenience for students, lecturers, and staff. As
these facilities are used daily, their condition significantly affects the overall campus
experience. When toilet facilities are poorly maintained, it can lead to discomfort,
reduced productivity, and negative impressions of campus management.

The objective of this report is to evaluate the current state of toilet facilities on campus,
identify recurring problems, and recommend realistic solutions based on user feedback.
By understanding these issues, campus management can implement improvements that
promote a healthier and more supportive learning environment.

Current Problems
Based on the survey results, respondents reported several major issues related to the
condition of the campus restrooms. The most frequently mentioned problem was the
lack of running water, which was experienced by all respondents. This situation clearly
affects sanitation because users are unable to clean themselves properly. In addition,
three respondents stated that the soap dispensers were often empty, making it difficult
for them to wash their hands effectively. These two issues indicate that basic restroom
supplies are not being checked or refilled regularly.

Other concerns raised by respondents were related to the cleanliness and overall
comfort of the restrooms. Two respondents noted that they often encountered
unpleasant odors, which may be caused by poor ventilation or an irregular cleaning
schedule. One respondent also mentioned that the floors and certain areas of the
restroom were sometimes dirty, suggesting that the cleaning routine is not carried out
consistently. Overall, these findings show that restroom maintenance is still lacking,
causing the same problems to reappear and affecting both the comfort and hygiene of
the users.
Collected Feedback
A mini-survey was conducted among five students from different faculties to gather a
broader view of the restroom conditions across several campus buildings. The
respondents used toilets in various faculty buildings, which helped provide a more
general picture of how the restroom facilities are maintained across campus. The data
collected is presented through several charts that show restroom usage frequency, types
of problems experienced, and the aspects that students believe need improvement.

1. Frequency of Restroom Use

Based on the survey, most students use the campus restroom regularly. Four out of five
respondents (80%) stated that they use the restroom several times a week, while one
respondent (20%) reported using it every day. These results show that the restroom
facilities are used quite frequently, making their maintenance and cleanliness important
for daily campus activities.

2. Experience With Restroom Problems

Every respondent (100%) reported experiencing at least one problem when using the
restroom. This indicates that restroom-related issues are fairly widespread and affect all
users who participated in the survey.

3. Types of Problems Experienced

From the survey, the most common issue identified was the absence of running water,
which was mentioned by all respondents. This was followed by empty soap dispensers
(reported by 60% of students), unpleasant odors (40%), and occasionally dirty
conditions (20%). None of the respondents noted any broken or damaged facilities.
These results suggest that the main challenges are connected to maintenance and the
management of essential supplies rather than structural problems.j

4. Facilities That Need Improvement

When asked which areas of the restroom should be improved, all respondents agreed
that the availability of soap needs the most attention. Additionally, 80% of students felt
that water availability remains a major concern. Only one respondent mentioned
cleanliness of the floors, and no one pointed out issues related to ventilation or lighting.
These responses reinforce the idea that the most urgent improvements are related to
maintaining basic hygiene supplies and ensuring consistent access to water.

Analysis
Based on the survey results, the issues found in the campus restroom facilities are
mainly caused by inconsistent maintenance and supervision. Since the restrooms are
used quite frequently, the availability of water and soap needs to be checked regularly.
However, the findings such as water not being available at certain times and soap
dispensers often being empty show that monitoring and refilling are not carried out as
often as needed. Problems like unpleasant odors and dirty floors also suggest that the
cleaning schedule does not fully match the times when the restrooms are most
frequently used by students. Limited ventilation or poor air circulation may also
contribute to the presence of these odors.

These problems have a noticeable impact on users. The lack of water and soap prevents
students from maintaining proper hygiene, especially after using the restroom, which
can reduce the overall level of cleanliness on campus. In addition, unclean and
uncomfortable restroom conditions may discourage students from using the facilities.
Overall, these issues lower the quality of students ’ experience when using campus
facilities and may affect how they perceive the management of campus infrastructure.

Recommendations
Based on the problems identified in the survey, several practical steps can be taken to
improve the condition of the campus restroom facilities. First, the campus should
implement a more frequent schedule for checking and refilling basic supplies such as
water and hand soap. Since these two items are the most commonly reported issues,
increasing the frequency of inspections especially during busy hours would help
ensure that essential needs are consistently available.

Second, the cleaning schedule should be adjusted to better match the times when the
restrooms are used most often. Adding an extra cleaning session during peak hours,
such as late morning or early afternoon, could help reduce unpleasant odors and
prevent floors from becoming dirty too quickly. Improving ventilation by installing or
repairing exhaust fans may also help maintain better air circulation.

Finally, the facilities management team should create a simple reporting system that
allows students to notify staff when supplies run out or when cleanliness issues arise.
A quick-response system would make it easier for maintenance staff to address
problems promptly and ensure that similar issues do not repeatedly occur.

Conclusion
In conclusion, the survey results show that the campus restroom facilities still face
several recurring issues, particularly related to the availability of water and soap, as
well as occasional cleanliness concerns. These problems stem largely from
maintenance routines that do not fully match the actual usage patterns of the restrooms.
As a result, students’ comfort and hygiene are affected, and their overall satisfaction
with campus facilities may decrease.

By increasing the frequency of supply checks, adjusting the cleaning schedule,

improving ventilation, and establishing a simple reporting mechanism, the campus can
significantly enhance the quality of its restroom facilities. Implementing these
improvements will not only support better hygiene but also contribute to a more
comfortable and positive environment for all campus users.
