PRACTICAL ASSESSMENT

INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CANDIDATE:

1. This unit of competence shall be assessed in three phases.


2. Each assessment session has the duration included in brackets
3. The third phase of the assessment shall include a practical session and an oral
assessment session.
4. The assessor will take photos and videos as you perform the tasks at critical points
during the assessment.
5. Ensure all required resources for the assessment have been provided before beginning
the assessment.

PRACTICAL ASSESSMENT 1 (2 HOURS)


Elements Covered:
1. Process Computerized Word Document
Tasks:
a) Open a word processor and create a new document titled Meeting Minutes – ICT
Department. Type the following minutes as it appears below. Use Times New Roman ,
font size 12:
Minutes of Staff Meeting
Date: 20th August 2025
Time: 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM Venue: Conference Room A
Chairperson: Mr. John Doe Minute Taker: Jane Smith
1. Opening Remarks
The Chairperson welcomed all staff and emphasized punctuality in future meetings.
2. Review of Previous Minutes
The minutes of the previous meeting were confirmed as a true record without amendments.
3. Departmental Updates
Each department head presented their progress report. Key highlights included:
- IT Department reported successful migration to the new system.
- HR announced upcoming staff training in September.
- Finance noted timely submission of budget reports.
4. Upcoming Events
The annual staff retreat was scheduled for 15th October 2025. Planning committee formed.
5. Any Other Business
No major issues raised.
6. Closing Remarks
The Chairperson thanked members for their contributions and closed the meeting at 11:30

Tasks 1A:
a) Open a spreadsheet and create the following table of sales on the spreadsheet:

b) Use cell referencing to calculate totals for each product across the 3 months.
c) Insert this type of chart to display product sales totals above.

PRACTICAL ASSESSMENT 3 (3 HOURS)


Elements Covered:
1. Prepare PowerPoint presentation
2. Perform Online Collaboration
3. Perform Document Production
Task 1A:
a) Create a new presentation on the topic “Using ICT Safely.”
i. Slide 1 (Title Slide):
• Title: Using ICT Safely
• Subtitle: A Guide for Students
ii. Slide 2 (Content Slide with bullet points):
• Safe Internet Browsing
• Protecting Personal Information
• Avoiding Cyberbullying
iii. Slide 3 (Slide with Chart or Image):
• Insert an image of a padlock or a padlock icon.

b) Apply any built-in Design Theme to all slides.


c) Print slides in Handout View (2 slides per page).
Task 1B:
a) Sign in to your Gmail account.
b) Create a new document titled “Teamwork in ICT.” Using the collaboration tool
c) Type the following content into the document.
Teamwork in ICT
Teamwork is important in ICT because it allows people with different skills to work together
and solve problems more effectively.
✓ It improves communication and sharing of ideas.
✓ It saves time because tasks are divided among members.
✓ It helps members learn from one another.
d) Format the document as follows:

• Make the title bold and underlined.


• Change the font color of the three bulleted points.
• Insert today’s date at the header of the page.
• Insert page number at the bottom of the page.
e) Share the document with the assessor by generating a shareable link (set permissions
to Editor).
f) Copy the shareable link.
g) Open your Gmail, compose a new email to the assessor with the subject line:
“Teamwork in ICT – Shared Document.”
h) Paste the document link into the email body.
i) Send the email.
j) From the collaboration tool , download a copy of the document as
Teamwork_in_ICT.docx and again as Teamwork_in_ICT.pdf to your computer.
k) Print the document

The assessor will proceed to ask you oral questions for 1 hour.
