Core Modules (Units & Themes)


The syllabus is organized into thematic modules centered on daily life, society, and
technology:
 Module 1: Family Life & Relationships
o Topics: Family dynamics, generation gap (parent-teen relationships), communication at home.
o Vocabulary: Relationships, feelings, upbringing, daily routine.
 Module 2: School & Education
o Topics: Educational systems, school life, the ideal school, rules, and discipline.
o Vocabulary: School subjects, extracurricular activities, future academic plans.
 Module 3: Health, Food & Lifestyle
o Topics: Balanced nutrition, physical and mental health, sports, junk food, and modern health
issues.
o Vocabulary: Nutrition, symptoms, medical advice, healthy habits.
 Module 4: Leisure, Entertainment & Travel
o Topics: Free time activities, travel, holidays, media, music, and books.
o Vocabulary: Travel destinations, leisure activities, holiday planning.
 Module 5: Technology, Science & Environment (Key unit for Science students)
o Topics: Impact of the Internet and social media, new technologies, environmental protection,
climate change.
o Vocabulary: Computing, ecology, pollution, scientific innovations.
2. Grammar & Language Functions
Key grammatical structures and communicative functions covered throughout the year:
 Tenses:
o Simple Present vs. Present Continuous
o Simple Past vs. Past Continuous
o Present Perfect (with since, for, already, yet)
o Expressing the Future (will, be going to)
 Modals:
o Obligation, prohibition, and advice (must, mustn't, should, ought to, have to).
o Ability and possibility (can, could, may, might).
 Sentence Structures:
o Comparatives and Superlatives
o Conditionals (Type 0, Type 1, Type 2)
o Expressing Cause & Effect (because, so, therefore, as a result)
o Expressing Contrast & Concession (but, however, although, despite)
 Language Functions:
o Expressing opinions, agreement, and disagreement.
o Giving advice and making recommendations.
o Describing processes, charts, or images.
3. Skills Assessed
 Reading Comprehension: Answering text-based questions, finding synonyms/antonyms,
identifying pronoun references.
 Language Practice: Fill-in-the-blanks, multiple-choice questions, error correction, tense verb
conjugation, matching exercises.
 Writing:
o Guided Writing: Writing a short text based on prompts, charts, or notes.
o Free Writing: Writing a short essay, personal letter, or email (e.g., advising a friend, giving an
opinion on technology, sharing a personal experience).
