Ceiling Diffusers
Ceiling Diffusers are suitable for modular ceiling systems, heating, ventilating and
cooling applications. Ceiling diffusers are efficient in handling high air volumes at a
relatively low noise levels to offer an even disbursement of air. Multi-core diffusers are
constructed from extruded Aluminium profiles/sheets. Available in a wide range of
sizes in square and rectangular shapes a wide variety of air flow patterns can be
achived to suit individual user`s needs.

Ceiling Diffusers Introduction
Ceiling diffusers are intended to discharge the best possible directional performance. All our
products are exceedingly versatile in design. Adjustable pattern models are available for
pattern control from vertical projection to horizontal air circulation, adaptable for both
variable air volume and constant air volume systems. Available in a wide range of sizes in both
square and rectangular shapes.
Diffusers are used in all HVAC systems as an integral part of room air distribution sub – systems.
High level of comfort in indoor air flow and higher performance level can be achieved.
Ceiling diffuser is known for its architectural appearance and sturdy construction ensuring even air distribution and
flow equalization.
Enhances mixing of the room air with the primary air and discharge neatly executed.
Ceiling diffusers are efficient in handling high air volumes at a comparatively low noise levels to offer even disburse-
ment of air.
Ceiling diffusers shaped in both square and rectangle, have a strong profile construction with extruded, streamlined,
aluminum alloy to withstand corrosion.
The blades are wing-shaped which ensures optimam air flow turbulence, thereby securing lower noise level.
Each diffuser, has a detachable snap-in middle core on its face, enabling easy installation. This also facilitates damper
adjustments and maintenance. The core can be replaced without alterating the external frame.
Blades fixed in ascending dimension from the inner core forms a division and fixed to the external frame by dual loaded
steel springs with four pins, results in centrally aligned core.
For preferred directional airflow, a choice of multi models in one way, two ways, three ways and four way diffusers
avialable.
Customer’s requirements in various neck sizes ranging from 150 x 150mm to 600 x 600 mm can be provided. Also avilable
with GI “neck adapters” according to the request.
One, two, three and four way patterns depends on the configuration of the room to be conditioned, number of diffuser
installed in that room, type, and the location of lighting fixtures or other ornamental patterns mounted on the same
ceiling.
Inner core enables to select various air supply patterns either for use in a corridor like areas or for a larger area where even
air disbursement on all four sides need to be achieved.

Diffusers are used in all HVAC systems as a part of room air distribution sub – systems.
High level of comfort in indoor air flow and higher performance level can be achieved.
Ceiling Diffuser is known for its architectural appearance and solid construction along with an easy and
even air distribution, flow equalization, and maximum sound attenuation.
Ceiling diffusers are efficient in handling high air volumes at a comparatively low noise levels to
offer even disbursement of air.
Assembling Features
Diffusers are cone type with individual cores manufactured from single piece of die-formed
Aluminium sheets.
Cores are assembled together and held in position by Aluminium pins loaded with steels springs.
Cores are easily removable and interchangeable to provide maximum flexibility in installation,
maintenance and control of damper.
Aluminium opposite blade damper is fixed to the outer frame by Aluminium rivets.
Damper blades are separated from damper frame by means of Nylon bushes
Opposed blade damper is lever operated, accessible through face of the diffuser from below the
ceiling without need of any special tools. Screw operated damper as option is available.
Foam Gasket can be sealed around back of the frame as option to avoid air leakage.

Closing the damper of ceiling diffuser, restricts the flow of air, thereby increasing the pressure drop and decreasing the cfm.
In doing these things, the damper also generates sound which leads to increase in the NC level. Table above shows the NC
addition of throttled dampers.

Sizing Procedure:
1 -After selecting pattern style of diffuser required to properly cover the area to be conditioned, it is then necessary
to be sure the outlet has been sized in accordance with length of throw, static pressure, velocity, and sound level
to prevent any increase in environmental sound level from the diffuser and its accessories.
2- Using CFM per outlet as selected in method described in “Selection Procedure” above and select
NC level from table 1 or recommended maximum V k velocity from table 2 suitable for type of occupancy.
3- Select the proper size of diffuser from engineering performance data to meet your requirement.
5- Total pressure is indicated on performance data pages which is equal to sum of neck
velocity pressure plus static pressure required.
Balancing Procedure:
For Square And Rectangular Diffusers:
To determine CFM use an Alnor Velometer with jet 2220-A tip positioned as shown in fig. 1. Take readings at points
shown by dots (figures 2 through 6) on all active discharge sides. On larger sizes, over 24 x 24, take at least
two or three reading per active side and average the total readings to arrive at jet velocity Vk After selecting the
proper Ak value from the engineering performance data, multiply the average velocity times the Ak to determine CFM.

Introduction
According to the ETL - Intertek Testing Laboratories Inc the given performance tables includes the test results conducted on
three Supply Air Diffusers with [Link] result includes static pressure, area factor, throw and sound power [Link]
samples were selected and supplied by Century Mechanical Systems Factory in April 12, 2010. Extrapolations and
Interpolations were applied to cover all range of sizes and parameters.
Test Method
The Samples were tested in accordance with the ASHRAE 70-2006 Standard “Method of Testing for Rating the Performance
of Air Outlets and Inlets, which incorporates ADC 1062: GRD-84 test code for Grilles, Registers and Diffusers. Acoustical
data were obtained employing a Bruel & Kjaer Digital Frequency Pulse Analyzer and analyzed on a Compaq Computer. The
reference sound source used for this test was a calibrated Bruel & Kjaer Type 4204, which conforms to the above standard.
The sample was installed in the facility and supplied with measured volumes of air. The static pressure was measured 1 ½
duct diameters upstream of the inlet.
Noise Criteria (NC) ratings were determined by subtracting a room absorption of 10dB from the Sound Powder Level data.
Air volumes were calculated in CFM. Throw values were derived at terminal velocities of 150fpm, 100fpm and 50fpm.
