Passage: The Illusion of Fear
Fear o en disguises itself as reality when the mind is uncertain. In a quiet village, an abandoned well stood at
the edge of a field. People claimed that eerie whispers echoed from its depths, especially a er sunset. Over
me, these tales grew, and the well became a symbol of danger.
Unlike others, Hamza ques oned these beliefs. He understood that repeated stories can transform
imagina on into convic on. One evening, he approached the well despite warnings. As he listened carefully,
he no ced that the “whispers” were nothing but the wind passing through narrow cracks, producing unusual
sounds.
Hamza concluded that fear had distorted the truth. What people believed to be mysterious was merely a
natural phenomenon misunderstood over me.

SCIENCE

2. Water Transport (Xylem) Ac vity: Place a fresh celery stalk or a white flower in a glass of water mixed with
dark blue ink or food coloring for 24 hours. Cut the stalk crosswise. Draw the pa ern of colored dots
(Xylem) you see inside in your notebook. Observe and write why does the color reach the leaves even if the
roots are removed?
3. Leaf Structure (Food Factory): Simple Model: Draw a large cross-sec on of a leaf. Use thread to outline the
Mesophyll layer and a transparent plas c scrap for the Cu cle.
4. Sketch and label the Stomata ( ny pores) on the underside of your leaf drawing. Observe and explain which
gas enters the leaf through the stomata for the process of photosynthesis?
5. Transpira on (Water Loss): Tie a clear plas c bag ghtly over a leafy branch of a plant in the sun. Leave it
for 2 to 3 hours. Observe the moisture inside. Count the approximate number of water droplets and record
it in your task file. Do you think a plant loses more water during a humid day or a dry sunny day? Why?
6. Photosynthesis (Energy): Create a "Sunlight Flowchart" showing how energy moves from the Sun to the
Leaf and finally to Humans. Cover half of a leaf on a living plant with black paper/foil for 3 days. Observe
the color change a er removing it. Observe and explain why is sunlight considered the primary source of
energy for all living things?
7. Root Systems (Anchors): Collect one sample of a Tap Root (like a carrot or dandelion) and one Fibrous Root
(like grass). Dry the roots, tape them into your notebook, and label each type clearly. Which root system is
more effec ve at preven ng soil erosion?
8. Instruc ons for Students: Prepare all observa ons, drawings, and answers in a neat folder. No colored inks
are required; use a black pen and pencil for a professional look. Models and root samples should be
