Environment

Humans are damaging the environment through gas emissions, waste production, plastic pollution, and deforestation, which contribute to global warming and threaten ecosystems. Governments can address these issues by implementing laws to limit emissions, supporting reforestation, and imposing green taxes, while individuals can help by using public transport, reducing waste, and raising awareness. Collective action from both governments and individuals is essential to mitigate environmental harm and promote sustainability.

Explain some of the ways in which humans are damaging the environment.

What can
governments do to address these problems? What can individual people do?

Problems

- Gas emissions from factories and exhaust fumes from vehicles lead to global warming.

- Human population increases, we are also producing ever greater quantities of waste

 contaminates the earth and pollutes rivers and oceans.

- plastic waste and industrial chemicals often end up in rivers and oceans

 threatening marine life and ecosystems

- make room for farming, housing, and industry, forests are being cleared at an alarming rate

 destroying animal habitats and reducing the Earth’s ability to absorb carbon dioxide.

Solution

Government:

- Introduce laws to limit emissions from factories or to force companies to use renewable energy

- Supporting reforestation projects can help restore the natural balance.

- Impose “green taxes” on drivers and airline companies

 encouraged to use public transport and to take fewer flights abroad

Individuals:

- Take public transport rather than driving, choose products with less packaging

- By reusing and recycling  reduce waste

- Raising awareness in communities about environmental issues can inspire others to take action as
well.
