Dear Sir/Madam

I, Ye Htet Kyaw, have been looking forward to pursue further education in Science in
university of Ottawa in Ottawa, Ontario starting this September 2026. As a crucial part of the visa
application, I am writing this letter about my statement of purpose to provide information regarding
myself.

Personal Background

My name is Ye Htet Kyaw(Male), a seventeen-year-old student born on 7th March 2009, and I
have resided in Myanmar(Burma) my entire life. In order to continue my academic voyage, I have
accepted the offer to study science in the University of Ottawa. Located in Ottawa, I believe that the
University of Ottawa is the most suitable university for me to pursue my bachelor's degree since the
university is committed to providing various opportunities for the students to hone their personal skills,
explore their areas of interest and provide guidance to shape their future careers.

To summarize my academic background, I attended Kaung Sone Private High school until I
was Grade-6 starting from kinder-garden, from 2012 to 2019. Next, I prepared to answer the IGCSE
examination the following year and this is where the start of my journey in international school began.
I continued to study at TZEC international school for about 5 years where I got my International
General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) in November-2025 with all A and A* in maths
and science subjects. After that I started studying in Canadian International College (CIC) for the
Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) in the same month. I have achieved supra-80 marks in the
first semester; moreover, I am confident that I will get better marks in my second semester which is
about to be completed in June-2026. I’ve also attended YLE: young learners’ English course at the
same time and finished IELTS around January 2026. Apart from my studies I also participated in a
wide range of extracurricular activities such as being a member of the school’s badminton team and
participating in sports competitions, being a tutor in the school’s association, I also helped my juniors
with their studies and assignments as well.

Reason for choosing Canada and the University of Ottawa

During the process of preparing for IGCSE examinations, I decided to pursue further
education abroad. This lead me to the top three countries; USA, Canada and China. After discussing
through with my family over the past few months, I decided to go with Canada as it is a country
famous for its globally respected education system with a strong emphasis on research-based learning
and practical exposure, which aligns with my goal of becoming a competent medical professional. My
father; a sailor, also recommended Canada with his experience there as he’s been to many countries
both as a worker and a tourist. As a bachelor of biomedical science student, Canada offers a new route
called MD which allows us to chase our dream of becoming a doctor. This structured academic
pathway will ensure that evidence-based medicine in Canada will equip me with the clinical reasoning
and research skills that are needed for my future medical career.

After confirming to aim towards Canada during my next academic run, I’ve applied to three
universities in Canada and got accepted in all three of them; University of Ottawa, Manitoba and
Toronto Metropolitan University. Among all of them the University of Ottawa in particular got my
interest as it provides immerse learning which is not limited to the four walls of the classrooms. The
university gives students a chance to learn outside of the classes as well, through guest lecturer from
outstanding individuals, participation in various networking events and clubs allowing students to
communicate with professors and each other. This truly makes me want to pursue my future studies in
Science at the University of Ottawa, as the university encourages self -development and offers unique
experiences that can help me become aware of my own strengths and the areas I need to improve in
order to become the best version of myself.

Another reason for choosing University of Ottawa is that the university is one of the top
ranking university in Canada providing every needs for the educational in every field available. The
university is located in Ottawa, Ontario which is the capital of Canada. Therefore, the living experience
will be far superior and packed with general goods for our daily life By far, this mean that there will be
easier transportation, supply and health care for an international student compared to the other cities.
My family is fully supportive over the idea of choosing Ottawa as well, since the city’s ranked high in
the safety level and the weather is very mutual and calm. There are also various activities that I can
explore during my stay in Ottawa.

Educational Goals

Growing up as a kid engulfed by the family of engineers and sailors, I have always wanted to
separate myself from them, to be a successful cardiologist. This led me to choose Bachelor of
Biomedical science as my major in university as I believe that the biomedical science programme
would allow me to improve my understandings in human anatomy, biodiversity and evolution of life,
while challenging me to get out of my comfort zone and reach greater heights both academically and
personally. In order to prepare for my studies as a doctor, I plan to study Biomedical science in the
University of Ottawa, and pursue my dream of becoming a doctor by furthering my studies for the
Doctor of Medicine programme in the same University of Ottawa. To support my upcoming studies in
the university, I’ve taken Biology and other sciences throughout my studies in both IGCSE and OSSD,
allowing me to gain several background knowledge suitable for this field of study. To be able to reach
educational goals and focus on pursuing further education in university, I will have to adapt to the new
environment and learn to fully utilize the skills I have developed in my past academic journey. By
having a well-balanced timetable, I will be able to concentrate on my studies as well as efficiently
make use of my free time to acquire new skills which can aid me in my future.

Financial Sponsorship of My Studies in Canada

Throughout my academic journey in Canada, the expenses on studies and other necessities
such as living costs will be funded by my parents. My parents are financially well-off and have
sufficient funds to fully support me throughout my university life. My father is a sailor who expertise
in electrical engineering. He has a contract going on with the company called Seaspan and has an
average salary of 6000-7000 USD per month. My mother, however is a housewife but she has savings
in the bank around 4000k in mmk which is relevant to approximately 12000CAD which will be used to
my education. The will to repay the support provided by my parents in order for me to have a brighter
future is a part of the reason why I am dedicated to pursue further education in university.

Future Plans

Even though I am still seventeen years old, I have several goals I want to accomplish in the
future. Regardless of the fact that I have yet to discover and experience many things while navigating
university life in Canada, one of my goals is to develop and expertise in Biomedical Science and
acquire knowledge and experiences in that field while taking advantage of the learning opportunities
that come my way. Another goal I have is to improve my personal skills such as critical thinking skills,
problem-solving skills and management skills so that I will be able to communicate more efficiently
with other people to share ideas and opinions as well as overcome the obstacles and challenges that I
will face. Aside from my studies, I also plan to gain real-life experiences by participating in the
networking events held by the university and meet new people who can help me pursue my dreams by
giving me advises that will be helpful to me in the future. Furthermore, I want to become a cardiologist
In order to create new pathways in curing diseases associating with the heart for people in Myanmar
and prevent them from wasting their time, energy and money into curing the diseases by going to
oversea countries for treatment. After gaining extensive clinical experience and developing expertise in
my chosen field of medicine, I hope to collaborate with like-minded colleagues to establish and
manage a healthcare facility that provides high-quality and accessible medical services. My long-term
goal is not only to treat patients but also to contribute to the improvement of healthcare standards
within my community through innovation, teamwork, and patient-centered care.
I firmly believe that studying biomedical science at the university of Ottawa will provide me
with limitless opportunities to further develop my skills and lead me to a path of success. With this
letter, I humbly request fro granting me visa to study at the University of Ottawa in Canada.

Thank you for reading my study plan towards Canada.

Yours Sincerely,
Ye Htet Kyaw
