Unit 2 -Lesson 1
Notes of the lesson-Staying Safe at Home and Outside.

Learning Objective

• To analyze everyday situations to define risk, danger, and consequence, and

formulate actionable strategies to maintain personal safety both at home and in the
community.

Group Activity: "Risk & Consequence Mapping"

Task: Each group is assigned one common environment (e.g., The Kitchen, A Busy Public
Road, Online/social media, or An Outdoor Sports Park).

1. Potential Danger / 2. Possible 3. Safety Strategy

Task 1

Scenario Analysis: Read the scenario below and answer the questions in your notebook:

Scenario: "A student is rushing down the school corridor and leaves their heavy backpack
right in the middle of the walking path."

• What is the danger in this environment?

• What is the risk created for other students?
• What is a likely consequence if someone does not see it?

Task 2

Create a "Home and Community Safety Checklist" in your notebook.

1. Identify two hidden risks inside a typical home and two risks in an outdoor public
space.
2. For each risk, write a detailed Consequence Statement explaining how it impacts
physical or emotional safety.
3. Draft a rule or guideline that schools or families could implement to eliminate these
risks.
Task 3

• Write a short persuasive paragraph or "Safety Advisory Memo" addressed to Grade 7

peers.
1. Evaluate how modern environments (like digital spaces or urban transport
systems) introduce new kinds of risks compared to traditional environments.
2. Use the concepts of probability and severity of consequence to argue why
taking unnecessary shortcuts with personal safety is never worth the risk.
3. Conclude with a memorable three-point safety manifesto for your generation.
