Instructions
Read each workplace scenario carefully. Identify and analyze the communication
concepts involved based on the lessons discussed in Chapter IV:
Communication. Answer in complete sentences.

Part I. Identify the Communication Concept (20 points)


1. A supervisor sends a memorandum informing employees about the new
attendance policy.

2. An employee submits a suggestion through the company's suggestion box


regarding improving workplace safety.

3. Department heads from Finance and Human Resources meet to coordinate


employee payroll concerns.

4. A manager observes that employees are spreading unverified information


about company restructuring during lunch breaks.

5. A person silently reflects on how to respond to criticism before speaking.

6. During a presentation, loud construction noise prevents employees from


hearing the speaker clearly.

7. A receiver interprets and understands the meaning of a message sent by the


manager.

• State one advantage and one possible disadvantage.

Situation 4
During a staff meeting, a team leader carefully observes employees' facial
expressions and body language while discussing a sensitive issue.

Guide Questions:
• What type of communication is being interpreted?
• Why is nonverbal communication important?

Part III. Reflection (10 points)


Write a reflection of at least 200–250 words.

Among the communication concepts discussed in this chapter, which do you
believe is the most important for creating an effective and productive workplace?
Explain your answer by relating it to a real-life experience, workplace situation, or
organization that you have observed.
