TRAINING PROGRAM ASSIGNMENT (120 minutes)
Boult, until now, for the last 6 years has been an online only brand. In the last 3 months, it has
gone offline as well and reached to 3000 POS (point of sales). In the next 3 quarters, it is
going to be expanded to 10,000 POS. Boult works in headphones and smartwatches.
Boult only deals with state distributors. For 3000 stores across 29 states, we can assume 100
stores per state. A state distributor has 3 wholesalers under him/her, who later on give the
products to stores under them.
Mystery Shopper Program – Boult sent some of their employees to different stores across
the city and they came out with some findings.
1. Salesmen didn’t know that they had stock of Boult products, or if they even sell Boult or
not.
2. Sellers were not aware of the brand and its merits (age of the brand, top rated on XYZ
platform etc)
3. They did not know the features of the product (ANC, ENC etc)
4. They cannot explain why Boult is better than any other competitive brand.
5. If a customer asks for a specific feature in a product, the seller does not recommend
Boult products due to lack of awareness.
Action - Company is looking to launch a detailed training program for salesmen awareness of
the brand and drive sales from upcoming store additions. Assuming the training program
should be ready for 10,000 POS in the future, solution should answer the following:
1. Plan of action chart (Gantt chart), listing down the activities with assumed timelines
(whether it is going to take a month, 6 months, year etc).
2. Decide the manpower (Who and how many people will be running this), build a
structure/process on how the hierarchy will be managed, how they are going to reach
to such large numbers.
3. Assuming the company is generating revenue of 650Cr in online and 100Cr in offline
channels, derive the costing for the entire project.
4. Derive an engagement plan for distributors, wholesalers, salesmen. Why and how
would a shop/store owner or salesman come to us for a training program if he/she is
already selling products of any other brand as well.
5. Choices: Keep in mind feasibility, reasonability, and optimization. You are not required
to make too many mathematical models. But some understanding is needed to be
made while designing the program (prioritisation of stores/cities, how the money is
going to be spent).
Submission:
1. Answer should be in a structured excel document, explaining the drawbacks in a
scientific manner. A PowerPoint presentation or a long word document is not mandatory.
2. Use tables, charts, diagrams to explain the solution.
3. Assume the plan has to be implemented in real life, take appropriate assumptions
where applicable.
4. High level of detail is expected.
5. You might have to present the solution, therefore please use bullet points for your
reference and kindly refrain from writing paragraphs.
