1. What is a Keyboard?

Ans. A keyboard is a device that is used to write on a computer.

2. What are the 3 types of keys on the Keyboard?

Ans. The 3 types of keys on the keyboard are:-

a. Alphabet keys
b. Number keys
c. Special keys
3. What are Alphabet keys?

Ans. There are 26 Alphabet keys labeled A to Z . They are used to type words or sentences.

4. What are Number keys?

Ans. The number keys are from 0 to 9. They are used to type numbers. They are found in two places
of the Keyboard that are above the alphabet keys and one to the right side of the keyboard.

5. What are Special keys?

Ans. There are 5 special keys:-

1) Spacebar
2) Enter key
3) Arrow keys
4) Backspace key
5) Delete key

6. What is the Spacebar?

Ans. Spacebar is the longest key on the keyboard it is used to give space between words.

7. What is the Enter key?

Ans. To move to the next line, we use the Enter key. The Enter key is found in two places on the
keyboard.

8. What are arrow keys?

Ans. Arrow keys are used to move up, down, left or right. There are 4 arrow keys.
9. What is the Backspace key?

Ans. This key helps us to erase one character from right to left.

10. What is the cursor?

Ans. The Cursor is the flashing black line which shows where you can start typing.

11. What is the Delete key?

Ans. The Delete key is used to erase one character from left to right.

12. What is the notepad and write the steps to start using a notepad?

Ans. The Notepad is a computer program. The steps to use a notepad are:-

1) Click on the Start Button


2) Select all programs. A list of programs would be seen.
3) Select Accessories folder.
4) From the list, select Notepad
5) Now you can start typing
6) Type your name using the keyboard, in the white space where a cursor (|) is blinking.
7) Type –I study in class 1.
13. How do we save a file in the Notepad?

Ans. To save a file in Notepad we would need to follow the following steps.

1) Click on File Tab


2) Select Save.
3) In the window that opens, type your file name. ex:- MYFIRSTFILE.
4) Now click on Save. Your file is saved in the computer.
