Title Of The Project :

Automated LPG Gas Leakage Detection and Preventing system.

● Introduction and Background Context:

Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) is a primary fuel source used globally for cooking, industrial
processes, and heating every day. While highly efficient, LPG is hazardous. It is highly
flammable and can cause fires or explosions if leaked into an enclosed space. Because LPG
is heavier than air, it tends to accumulate near the ground, making detection difficult for
humans until a dangerous concentration is reached.
Traditional safety measures rely heavily on manual checks or the distinct odorant added to
the gas. However, these are prone to human error and are ineffective if the inhabitants are
asleep or away.
This project proposes an automated, real-time LPG Gas Leakage Detection System
designed to continuously monitor the environment, provide instant localized alerts, and
execute safety countermeasures to prevent disasters.

● Objectives:

[Link] time Monitoring And Detection :

To design a system that continuously senses the concentration of LPG in the air using
high-sensitivity gas sensors and triggers an alarm within seconds of a leak detection.
2. Automated Countermeasures :
To implement automatic safety protocols, such as shutting off the gas supply valve via a
servo/solenoid and activating an exhaust fan to safely disperse the leaked gas.
3. Remote Alerting:
To integrate an IoT or GSM module that sends instant notifications (SMS, mobile app alerts)
to users or emergency contacts when a leak occurs, ensuring safety even during their
absence.

● Expected Timeline :
The project is structured over a 12-week period. Below is the Gantt chart breakdown of the
milestones:
● Required Apparatus and Cost Estimation :

Required Apparatus Quantity Total cost

(Approximately)

1)Arduino UNO 1 1000 tk

2) MQ-2 LPG Gas 1 500 tk

Sensor

3) Mini Breadboard 1 80-100 tk

4) Buzzer 1 90 tk

5) ServoMotor 1 200 tk

6) Jumper wire 1 set 50 tk

7) Hookup Wire 1

8) 5V CPU Fan 1 200 tk

9) LPG Gas Regulator 1 300 tk

10) 10 kΩ Resistor 1 15 tk

11) IRF550N Mosfet 1 50 tk

12) USB Cable 1 130 tk

Total Cost ( Approximately): 2615 Taka

● Expected Outcomes/Results:

 Instant Leak Detection :

When a gas leak occurs, this system will detect LPG gas leakage using the MQ-2 LPG Gas
Sensor. An audible alarm will be activated immediately when the gas concentration exceeds
the present the shold. It identifies the gas concentration before it reaches explosive levels.
 Immediate Alarms :
The system triggers loud sound (using a buzzer) and flashes bright light (Using LEDs or a
display) so anyone in the house is instantly warned to evacuate.
 Automatic Air Cleaning :
The ventilation fan will automatically turn on to blow the accumulated gas out of the room.
 Energy Gas Shut- Off:
The servo motor will perform a safety action such as opening a window or turning off the gas
cylinder's regulator knob to stop the leak at the source. The system will help to reduce the
risk of fire, explosion and gas-related accidents.
This project will demonstrate the practical application of Arduino based automation and
safety systems.

The MQ-2 sensor accurately detected the presence of LPG [Link] Arduino Uno processed
the sensor data correctly and activated the buzzer within a short response time. The
MOSFET-controlled fan operated automatically when gas leakage was [Link] servo
motor responded as programmed and completed the assigned safety [Link]
prototype functioned reliably during testing and provided timely warnings against gas
leakage.

The overall system proved to be an effective, low-cost and user-friendly LPG safety Solution.

● Discussion:
The LPG Gas Detector project was designed to detect LPG gas leakage and provide an
immediate warning to [Link] dangerous gas concentrations are sensed,it triggers
warning alarms, activates exhausted fans,or sends mobile alerts to prevent devastating
kitchens.
1)System Effectiveness :
The integration of semiconductor sensors (like the MQ-2 ) with microcontrollers (Arduino)
proved highly effective in continuously tracking gas concentrations and successfully
identifying dangerous leaks well below explosive limits.

2)Automated Mitigation:
Unlike traditional detectors that only sound an alarm, this proposal incorporates active
control mechanisms. By utilizing relays to close the gas cylinder's regulator valve and turn on
ventilation fans, it physically removes the hazard even if the user is asleep or away from the
premises.
3)User Accessibility :
The use of inexpensive, readily available components and open-source programming (like
Arduino Uno) makes the project highly scalable and budget-friendly. The inclusion
of visual (LCD/LED) alerts, audible buzzers, and potential IoT/GSM modules ensures that
users are notified immediately.
4) System Efficacy :
The proposed system provides highly sensitive, real-time monitoring of liquefied petroleum
gas (LPG). By automating the detection process, it eliminates human error and delays in
noticing dangerous leaks.
● Conclusion:
○ Enhanced Safety : The project successfully fulfills the criteria for a reliable,
early-warning system that is crucial for preventing catastrophic accidents and
minimizing property loss.
○ Practical Viability : The proposed device is viable for widespread adoption in
residential homes, laboratories, and commercial restaurants.
○ Future upgrade : Further
development can include mobile app integration, cloud-based logging for gas
concentration trends, and battery backups to ensure continuous operation
during power outages.
