1. Fossil Fuel: Coal and Petroleum


Fossil fuels are coal, petroleum, and natural gas. They are formed over millions of years from dead
plants and animals. They are non-renewable and cause pollution.
2. Combustion and Flame
Combustion is burning in the presence of oxygen. It produces heat and light. A flame has three
zones. The outer zone is the hottest.
3. Cell Structure and Function
A cell is the smallest unit of life. Main parts are nucleus, cytoplasm, and cell membrane. Plant cells
have a cell wall and chloroplast.
4. Reproduction in Plants and Animals
Reproduction is producing new living beings. It can be sexual or asexual. It helps continue life.
5. Force, Friction and Pressure
Force changes motion or shape. Friction opposes motion. Pressure is force per unit area.
6. Sound and Its Basics
Sound is produced by vibrations. It travels through solids, liquids, and gases.
7. Reflection and Dispersion of Light
Reflection is bouncing back of light. Dispersion splits white light into seven colors.
8. Metals and Non-Metals
Metals are shiny and good conductors. Non-metals are dull and poor conductors.
9. Synthetic Fibres and Plastics
Synthetic fibres are man-made. Plastics are strong but cause pollution.

Electric current can cause chemical changes like electroplating.
