My Daily Routine
What do you do every day?
Think about your morning. What is the very
first thing you do when you open your
eyes?
Does everyone in the world have the same
routine? Let's find out!
DISCUSSION
Simple Present: The Basics
We use the Simple Present to talk about
things we do regularly (habits or routines).
The Rule
For I, You, We, They, use the base verb.
● I wake up at 7:00.
● They study every afternoon.
🔑 Key point
Use the Simple Present for facts and
habits that happen 'every day' or
'always'.
The Third Person Singular
GRAMMAR ALERT
When the subject is He, She, or It, we must
add -s or -es to the verb.
● He wakes up.
● She goes to school.
● It starts at 8:00.
⚠️ Watch out
Don't forget the 'S'! It is the most
common mistake for English learners.
Asking Questions
To ask about a routine, we use Do or Does
at the start of the sentence.
● Do you wake up early?
● Does he play soccer?
1 Do + I/you/we/they + verb?
2 Does + he/she/it + verb?
Negatives: 'Don't' and 'Doesn't'
I / You / We / They He / She / It
Use do not (don't). Use does not (doesn't).
● I don't eat meat. ● He doesn't like coffee.
● They don't watch TV. ● She doesn't study on Sundays.
🧠 Remember
When you use 'doesn't', the main
verb loses the 's'!
Time Expressions
To be specific about our routine, we use time
phrases:
● In the morning / afternoon / evening
● At night / 7:30 / noon
● Every day / Monday

I play sports after school.
