The given maps illustrate the changes that have taken place in Lakeside area
between 2000 and 2009.
In can be seen from the layouts, the area experienced significant
redevelopment, with a clear shift from old and unused buildings toward more
modern facilities , including commercial, educational, and entertainment
infrastructure. While the river and woodland remained unchanged, most
other features were replaced or repurposed.
In 2000, the left side of the lake was dominated by an old town and derelict
warehouse, as well as two residential areas, an arts centre, and a school. By
2009, these structures was removed. In their place, a new residential area
was built, along with modern office, a car park and a university. The school
was remain but relocated slightly southwards. Additionally, a multi-screen
cinema and a shopping centre were added nearby.
On the southern side of the map, the industrial complex was significantly
expanded, leading to the area of woodland become smaller.
