🌱 Science 1 – Performance Task

Quarter: 2​
Topic: Fruit-bearing Plants​
Performance Task Title: “My Little Fruit-bearing Plant Journal”

Objective:

To learn how to plant and observe the growth of a fruit-bearing plant for 1 week.
📌 Instructions for Learners:

1.​ Choose one fruit-bearing plant you would like to grow. (Examples: tomato, calamansi,
papaya, okra, eggplant, or any available at home (it can also be monggo)).

2.​ Plant the seed or seedling in a small pot, recycled container, or in your backyard.

3.​ Take care of your plant every day by watering it and giving it sunlight (or place the plant
where there is sunlight)(Water it daily (unless the soil is still wet).

4.​ Every day, observe the seed/plant. Check the soil, leaves, stem, and growth.
5.​ Document your plant’s growth for 7 days (1 week):

o​ Take 1 picture of your plant each day.

o​ Write a short observation sentence (ex. “The soil is wet.” / “I see a small sprout.” /
“The leaves look greener today.”).

6.​ Compile your work into a mini journal booklet with the following parts:

o​ Cover Page: Title (My Little Fruit-bearing Plant Journal), your name, grade, and
subject.

o​ Daily Journal Pages: Each page should have:

▪​ Day number (Day 1, Day 2, etc.)

▪​ Picture of your plant

▪​ One to two sentences of observation

o​ Reflection Page: Answer it by writing 1-2 sentences and 2–3 sentences for answering:
“What did I learn from taking care of my plant?”

7.​ Decorate your journal with drawings, colors, or stickers to make it creative. 🌞💧🌿
8.​ Submit your mini journal booklet on Tuesday, September 30, 2025.
