Task 1: The maps below show the changes that took place at the seaside resort of

Templeton between 2000 and 2013.

ESSAY:

The maps depict how the seaside resort of Templetion changed from 2000 to 2013.

Overall, a comparison of the two maps reveals a significant transformation of the resort
from an open area with more greenery to a built-up one over the given period of time.
These key changes include more housing areas, a network of transport, and new facilities.

The west of the river experienced more changes than the east, making more space for
accommodation. In the north-west part of the resort, the number of trees reduced
considerably, making it the only place where trees were retained. While the houses to the
west of the lake remained unchanged, the remaining ones nearby were replaced by blocks
of flats. Additionally, a row of new houses was constructed to the south of the lake. While
there were a number of houses and flats in the south-west area in 2000, they were
completely demolished, paying the way for the construction of a supermarket and new
blocks of apartments.

On the other hand, the east of the river was industrialised. While facilities in the north-east,
such as a school, a hospital, and a parking lot, still existed, more houses were built near the
hospital. In 2000, the area in the south-east of Templetion featured plenty of trees and some
accommodation, they were all replaced by a factory.

Regarding the infrastructure, the roads and bridges experienced almost no changes over a
13-year period. However, the railway network was expanded, stretching from the west to
the east to create a complete system. To the south of the railway station, a ferry was
constructed, facilitating transportation.
