WRITING LINE GRAPH 3
The line graph compares figures for daily travel by people in the uk using three different forms
of transport over a period of 60 years
Overall, the car is by far the most popular means of transport for uk commuters during the
period shown. Also, the numbers of people who use the car and train increase gradually, while
the nymber of bus users falls steadily
in 1970, the car was the most preferred and peak around 5 million people in the uk per day,
while the bus and train were used by around 4 million and 2 million people respectively.
Between 1970 and 2010, the number of people using cars rose dramatically and reached at 7
million users. The train and car experienced a similar trend with a significant increase, however,
the train was travelled by uk commuters lower than the car, about 2 million people on a dalily
basis. In the same time, the bus was declined slightly from 4 million to 3,5 million people.
The period from 2020 to 2030, the number of car and train commuters are predicted to climb
considerably with the car reach the highest point of 9 milion and the train is used at around 5
million people. By contrast, the number of bus users is estimated to drop minimally and stand at
3 million people in the uk every day.
The line graph compares three countries: usa, sweden and japan in terms of the percentage of
people aged 65 or older over a period of 100 years
Overall, it is clear that the proportion of older people in three different countries has all
increase significantly over the period shown. It is also noticeable that japan is predicted to
make up the highest percentage of people aged 65 or more, compared to two remaining
countries.
In 1940, usa was by far the most polulated country with relatively 9% of population, whereas
the data of people in sweden and japan accounted for 7% and 5%, respectively. The period from
1940 to 2000 witnessed a similar trend with a rose significantly in percentage of the old group
of two countries: usa and sweden, around 14% and 13% respectively. However, there was a
gradual decrease in the figures of people aged 65 and over in japan from around 5% in 1940 to
about 3% in 1980.
The proportion of old people in japan is predicted to rise dramatically to almost 27% in 2040
and ovetake usa as the most populated country, while the lowest data of elder critizen are
expected to record for usa and sweden throughout the period shown.
