Introduction
Welcome to the Community Engagement, Solidarity, and Citizenship (CESC) First Term
Teacher-Made Learning Module. This module is designed to help Senior High School learners
understand the importance of active participation in community life, responsible citizenship, and
collective action toward social development.
The lessons in this module provide opportunities for learners to explore the concepts of
community, engagement, solidarity, volunteerism, leadership, and participatory development.
Through meaningful discussions, collaborative activities, reflective exercises, and community-
based tasks, learners will develop the knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes necessary to
become socially responsible and active members of their communities.
This module follows a learner-centered approach that encourages critical thinking, cooperation,
respect for diversity, and appreciation of local cultures and community resources. It also
promotes the development of practical skills in identifying community concerns, planning
appropriate actions, and working collaboratively with others to achieve shared goals.
At the end of the first term, learners are expected to demonstrate an understanding of community
engagement and citizenship by designing and participating in community-oriented activities that
contribute to the well-being and sustainable development of their communities.
May this module inspire every learner to become a responsible citizen who values service,
solidarity, and meaningful participation in building stronger, more inclusive, and resilient
communities.
Learning Competencies
At the end of the first term, the learners are expected to:
1. Explain the meaning, goals, and importance of Community
Engagement, Solidarity, and Citizenship (CESC).
2. Differentiate the concepts of community, society, engagement,
solidarity, and citizenship.
3. Identify the characteristics, elements, and types of communities.
4. Analyze the roles and responsibilities of individuals as active and
responsible citizens.
5. Recognize the importance of volunteerism and community
participation in promoting social development.
6. Identify community issues, concerns, and available resources through
observation and discussion.
7. Demonstrate the basic processes involved in community profiling and
needs assessment.
8. Analyze the causes and effects of selected community issues using
appropriate tools.
9. Explain the principles of participatory community engagement and
collaborative decision-making.
10. Develop appropriate solutions to identified community concerns
through collaboration and critical thinking.
11. Prepare a simple community action plan based on identified
community needs and available resources.
12. Demonstrate teamwork, leadership, and effective communication
during community-based activities.
13. Evaluate the importance of solidarity, inclusiveness, respect for
diversity, and social responsibility in community development.
14. Present and justify a proposed community action plan using
appropriate communication and presentation skills.
15. Reflect on personal learning, community participation, and the
value of active citizenship in promoting sustainable community
development.
