inwardly concealing kufr (disbelief).
Nifāq started in Madinah after
migration (Hijrah). Wealth was
introduced to Muslims by way of
plunder.
- Nifāq is of two kinds:
- Nifāq in Belief (Nifāq I‘tiqādī).
- Nifāq in Action (Nifāq ‘Amalī).
- Nifāq in Belief has six kinds:
- To make Prophet Muhammad ﷺa
liar.
- To belie some of the things that
Muhammad ﷺbrought forth.
- To be angry with Prophet
Muhammad
- To be angry with some of the things
that Muhammad ﷺbrought forth.
- To rejoice when the religion of
Prophet Muhammad ﷺis in a
decreasing position.
- To hate the victory of the religion of
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
- Nifāq in Action has five kinds:
- Al-Kadhib (telling a lie).
- Al-Ikhlāf (not fulfilling a promise).
- Al-Khiyānah (not fulfilling something
entrusted to him/her).
- Al Fujr (work of a traitor)
- Al Gadr (Betrayal of trust or contract)
The Prophet Muhammad said: A
hypocrite has three distinguishing signs;
first when he speaks, he tells a lie; second,
when he makes a promise, he breaks it;
third, when something is entrusted to him,
he misappropriates it.”
