Founded in 2025 by Mangaliso Rewu, a passionate and talented young scholar from Buchule
Technical High School and a current student at the University of the Western Cape (UWC),
EduRise Empowerment Hub emerged from a simple yet powerful idea: to bridge gaps in access
to quality education and foster academic excellence among South Africa’s youth.
Mangaliso’s journey began during his matric year (2024), when he created a WhatsApp group to
support and create a collaborative learning environment in his district with mathematics, a
subject often perceived as challenging. Recognizing the impact of collaborative learning, he
expanded this initiative beyond his district, connecting over 700 learners nationwide by January
2025. This grassroots effort laid the foundation for what would become EduRise Empowerment
Hub—a comprehensive, scalable platform dedicated to academic upliftment and empowerment.
The organization operates as an umbrella institution, offering both paid tuition programmes and
free support services through the “Math Empowerment Group,” embodying Mangaliso’s
vision of accessible quality education for all. With plans to establish branches across South
Africa, EduRise aims to be a beacon of hope and transformation for learners from diverse
backgrounds.
