Congratulations on making it to IIT Bombay. There’s a lot in store for you up ahead!
If you’re reading this, you probably are excited to enjoy the eventful insti life ahead that you
have read about as a part of your JEE motivation (Yep, been there :p)
Here’s a list of stuff you would need for your campus life!
This list is for your convenience; Although I have tried my best to make it exhaustive, I might
have missed some things, so please look out for them!
Almost all of the things you need would be available on campus, marked as (C),
And if not on campus, it’ll surely be available around it cause you’ll be living in Mumbai :)
The stuff you could bring from home is marked as (H)
Remember to check the official IITB website for updates and instructions regularly!

Outdoor sports H We have a significant ground

Formal wear H Just a plain coloured pair also works

Charging adapters H Totally!

Table Lamp H How about the Best Roomie award?
Just need one modem per room shared by two people so the
WIFI modem C cost can be shared with your roomie
LAN cable C High-speed internet for kicks!
Extension cords H Helps in using your charging phone while in bed :)
There are adapters for every bench in your classrooms,
Helpful when you’ll be outside for multiple hours, like trips
Power bank H (Your friends might use your power bank more than you do)
Bedding
Mattress and Pillows C Varieties available right below your hostels
Preferable two, so you can always have a fresh one.
Bedsheets H Available on campus too
Pillow covers C Gotta make your pillow seem fresh.
Table cloth C Just a touch of decor.
Personal Care
Daily accessories It's a campus for 12,000 students.
(Toothbrush, Soaps etc.) C You’ll get all these items in your hostel shops
Bucket C For bathing, Dhobiwala or wing wars (No questions).
Medicines H There is a hospital on campus
There are facilities available on campus,
Specific requirements H but to err to the side of caution.
Miscellaneous
Rental cycles for short rides and e-shuttles are available.
You can also buy a new cycle in and around the insti or from
seniors, but it can be cheaper to transport them from your
Bicycle C hometown if you already have one.
Heard of the Mumbai rains? Raincoats are preferred as you
can use them for treks.
Umbrellas and rainwear C Yes, we go on a lot of expeditions :)
Stuff like a racquet can be issued from the hostel, but having
Sports Equipment H your own can be more convenient
Backpack H Basic stuff, to hold ya laptop and hopefully some notes.
Daily Stationery C It's a college campus; You can buy pens anywhere :>
JEE chapter is done and dusted, but its arsenal can be carried
forward :)
Preferable Casio Classwiz or FX-991MS if you're buying a
