ENGLISH-MEDIUM O LEVEL SYSTEM

A Quick Reference Guide for Teachers & Parents

1. Examination Boards Used in Bangladesh


• Cambridge International (CAIE) — most widely used; offers O Level, AS & A Level
• Edexcel (Pearson) — also common, especially in newer English-medium schools
Both boards are internationally recognized and treated as broadly equivalent by universities worldwide.

2. O Level Structure (Grades 9–10 equivalent)


• Students usually spread subjects across Grade 9 and Grade 10, sitting some exams early
• Exam sessions: May/June and October/November each year — Bangladesh students mostly sit May/June
