principles upholds the credibility and integrity of your research.

Part Two: Information Gathering and Business Model Used

2.1 Information Gathering Method and Limitations

Data can be classified into two categories: primary and secondary (Saunders et al., 2019).
Primary data collection involves gathering new and original information directly from sources
specifically for the research at hand. This method includes various techniques such as surveys,
interviews, observations, and experiments, all aimed at obtaining firsthand information. In
contrast, secondary data collection utilizes existing information that has already been collected
and published by other sources. This approach involves analyzing data from books, journals,
reports, and online databases, allowing researchers to build on previously gathered information
to support their studies. However, secondary data can sometimes lack the specificity needed for
particular research (Sharma, 2024). Despite the variety of techniques used to gather data, certain
restrictions existed. One significant issue was the availability of data, which was often limited to
specific information, making it challenging to collect all the necessary data and potentially
hindering researchers' ability to achieve a complete understanding. As a full-time worker, it was
difficult to dedicate adequate time to thorough data collection. Therefore, using primary data
collection methods, such as conducting interviews or distributing surveys, was not feasible.
Consequently, this research relied solely on secondary data collection.

While secondary data provided useful insights and a broader context for the study, it sometimes
lacked the specific details needed to answer certain research questions. Additionally, relying on
secondary sources introduced potential risks regarding the accuracy and reliability of the data, as
well as the timeliness of the information. Interpreting financial data and strategic initiatives can

7
be subjective, leading to different conclusions among analysts and affecting the consistency and
objectivity of the research. Despite these limitations, the secondary data collected offered a solid
foundation for analysis.

2.2 Accounting Technique and Limitation

2.2.1 Ratio Analysis and its Limitations

Ratio analysis is a financial evaluation technique that analyzes a company's financial statements
to assess its financial stability, efficiency in operations, and overall profitability. Ratios serve as a
comparison point for companies and are typically not used in isolation. Instead, they are
compared to past ratios for the same company or to the same ratios from other companies
(Bloomenthal, 2024). Ratio analysis serves several key objectives essential for evaluating a
company’s financial health. It measures profitability through ratios such as net profit, gross
profit, and expense ratios. It assesses operational efficiency using operating ratios. It evaluates
the solvency of the business by comparing total assets to total liabilities, indicating whether the
firm can meet its debt obligations. It determines the financial status of the company through
fixed assets and debt-equity ratios, providing insights into both long-term and short-term
financial standing. Ratio analysis also facilitates comparative analysis, allowing for performance
comparisons over time and between different businesses, helping to identify strengths and
weaknesses. (SNE, nd). These ratios are used by both internal users and external users such as
investors, analysts, and regulatory agencies, who use them to evaluate the fiscal condition,
performance, and stability of an entity.

Profitability Ratios

Profitability ratios measure how well a business generates earnings compared to its revenue,
costs, assets, or shareholders' equity. These ratios are useful for assessing a company’s financial
performance and health, especially when compared to other businesses (Hayes, 2024). This
research will analyze profitability ratios to understand how effectively the company earns money.
This will help identify its profitability, assess operational efficiency, and compare its
performance against industry standards and competitors.

8
Liquidity Ratios

Liquidity ratios measure how well an entity can settle its current debts without borrowing. These
are the current ratio, quick ratio, and operating cash flow. These ratios reflect the company’s
capacity to meet its short-term obligations. Liquidity ratios are useful for internal and external
comparisons. Internally, companies track their ratios over time to see changes. Externally, they
compare their ratios with those of competitors or industry standards. This helps them understand
their market position and set goals. A elevated liquidity ratio generally means the company
possesses more stable and can better fulfill its debt obligations (Hayes, 2024).

Solvency Ratios

The solvency ratio is a performance metric used to evaluate a company’s financial health,
particularly its capacity to meet long-term financial obligations. This metric is valuable to
lenders, potential investors, suppliers, and other entities interested in doing business with the
company. By comparing the company’s profitability with its obligations, the solvency ratio helps
determine whether the company is financially sound. A higher or strong solvency ratio indicates
financial strength, while a low ratio indicates potential financial difficulties in future (CFI, nd).

Efficiency Ratios

Efficiency ratios are metrics used to analyze a firm’s capacity to effectively use its resources
including capital and assets, to generate income. These ratios compare expenses to revenues,
showing the return in revenue or profit a company can achieve from its operational spending.
Various efficiency ratios are used to assess a company’s overall operational efficiency, as
different ratios focus on different aspects of operations (CFI, nd).

Investor Ratios

An investor ratio evaluates how well a business can generate a sufficient return for its owners.
It’s crucial to understand that the owner has invested money in the business and expects a return
that matches the level of risk they have taken (Brown, 2023). Other aspects of the analysis, such
as asset turnover and sales growth, enable researchers to get a more comprehensive insight of an
organization’s financial health and operational effectiveness.

Limitation of Ratio Analysis

9
Ratio analysis is a valuable technique for assessing the fiscal stability of a business by comparing
information from financial statements. It is especially useful for external stakeholders who need
to understand a company’s financial results and position. However, there are several limitations
to ratio analysis.

Firstly, it relies on historical data, which may not accurately predict future performance,
particularly if the company has significantly changed its product lines. Additionally, the income
statement reflects current costs, while some items on the balance sheet may be recorded at
historical costs, leading to discrepancies. Inflation can also distort results, making it challenging
to compare financial data across different periods. Moreover, aggregation issues can arise when
financial statement line items are compiled differently over time, potentially skewing trend
analysis. Operational changes, such as the implementation of new systems or strategies, can
further complicate these comparisons. Another limitation is the variability in accounting policies
between companies, which can make comparisons misleading. For instance, different
depreciation methods or revenue recognition practices can lead to significant differences in
financial ratios. Interpreting these ratios can also be difficult, as the underlying reasons for the
numbers may not always be clear. For example, a strong current ratio might be due to a
temporary situation, such as a recent stock sale. Additionally, comparing companies with
different strategies, such as low-cost versus high-service models, can result in misleading
conclusions. Lastly, balance sheet ratios are based on a specific point in time, which may not
accurately reflect the company’s typical financial position, especially if there were unusual
transactions at the end of the financial period (AT, 2024).

2.3 Choices of Business Models and Limitations

Besides ratio analysis, SWOT and PESTLE analysis are applied to evaluate the company’s
business and financial performance.

2.3.1 SWOT Analysis and its Limitations

A SWOT analysis helps businesses understand their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and
risks to improve decision-making. Created by Albert Humphrey in the 1960s, it helps businesses

10
make well-informed decisions by offering a thorough insight into both internal strengths and
weaknesses as well as external opportunities and threats.

This method is essential for evaluating new initiatives, policy changes, and strategic pivots.
According to Bonnie Taylor of CCS innovation, a SWOT analysis is crucial for mapping out a
business’s future by thoroughly assessing all resources and threats. (Schooley, 2024).

A SWOT analysis helps businesses identify weaknesses that may limit growth. For example,
insufficient capital can hinder purchasing new products or paying employees. By conducting a
SWOT analysis, companies can spot these issues early and take action. If marketing efforts are
ineffective, management can hire a better team. SWOT analysis also supports clearer planning. If
a new location has potential for increased sales, management can strategize on how to secure
resources. The analysis checks the success of strategies by comparing strengths and weaknesses.
If a marketing strategy has more weaknesses, the company can work on improving it.
Additionally, many businesses and professionals can use SWOT analysis for various projects,
such as evaluating products, partnerships, or potential hires. Overall, it is an effective tool for
identifying areas needing improvement (Indeed Editorial Team, 2024).

SWOT analysis is a widely used method for developing strategic plans, but it has notable
limitations. The SWOT can miss important details and connections that affect business
outcomes, leading to poor decisions and missed opportunities. SWOT analysis can lack
objectivity and strategic direction, reducing its effectiveness. In today’s fast-changing market,
relying solely on SWOT can be risky (Neal, 2024). Another limitation of SWOT analysis is that
some factors may not fit clearly into one category. For example, a profitable business location
can serve as both an opportunity and a threat, boosting sales while putting financial pressure on
the company. Moreover, SWOT analysis may simply create a list of factors without showing
their relative importance. For instance, a company might identify strong financial resources as a
strength and a poor location as a weakness, but this analysis may overlook how the financial
strength can outweigh the location issues (Indeed Editorial Team, 2024).

2.3.2 PESTLE Analysis and its Limitation

PESTLE Analysis is a structured tool that helps businesses assess external influences— Political,
Economic, Technological, Social, Environmental, and Legal —that can affect their strategies and

11
operations (Periera, 2024). PESTLE analysis helps an organization identify and capitalize on
opportunities within the current business environment. It also aids in recognizing potential
challenges, enabling effective planning to manage these issues (Kenton, 2024). By understanding
these external influences, companies can better align their strategies with market conditions.
Moreover, this framework is simple to add to your strategic plan by understanding the business
environment and how current events may impact upon the organization (Wood, nd).

PESTLE analysis, while useful for understanding external factors, has its limitations. It can be
time-consuming and relies heavily on the availability and accuracy of external data, which can
sometimes be outdated or incomplete. PESTLE analysis may not capture the rapid changes in the
business environment, leading to outdated conclusions. Additionally, the subjective interpretation
of data can introduce bias, affecting the reliability of the results. Furthermore, PESTLE analysis
focuses solely on external factors, potentially overlooking important internal processes.
(PESTLEanalysis Team, 2016).

Part Three: Analysis, Evaluation and Conclusion

3.1 SWOT Analysis

In this section, a SWOT analysis has been conducted to provide a comprehensive evaluation of
Nvidia Corporation’s strategic position. Nvidia Corporation is a multinational technology
corporation based in the United States. In addition to its graphics processing units and system-
on-a-chip (SoC) units for the mobile computer and automotive markets, it is well-known for its
contributions to artificial intelligence computing.

3.1.1 Strengths

Strong Brand Value and Dominance in GPU Market

Nvidia experienced significant growth in the 2000s, starting with the GeForce 256 in 1999,
which introduced the term "GPU" and established the company as a graphics leader. Key

12
acquisitions, like 3dfx Interactive in 2000, and the launch of the CUDA platform in 2006
expanded Nvidia's influence beyond graphics (Solomon, 2024). Today, Nvidia holds over 70% of
the GPU market share (Dudovskiy, 2023), and its GeForce RTX 40 Super Series is recognized as
the best-performing GPU (Walton, 2024). The company's solid standing in the market
strengthens its brand reputation. Nvidia allocates significant resources to research and
development, leading in new technologies like ray tracing and AI-driven graphics, which helps it
cater to a wide range of customers, from gamers to AI and data science professionals.

and interactive avatars. They will combine Nvidia's AI platform with Salesforce’s services,
including Agentforce. This partnership aims to help Agentforce agents deliver better insights and
increase productivity for sales, service, marketing, and IT teams using Salesforce CRM for
customer data management (BusinessWire, 2024).

Additionally, partnerships in the automotive industry, including those with Tesla and other
automakers, position Nvidia as a key player in the self-driving vehicle market. These strategic
alliances contribute to revenue growth and reinforce Nvidia’s reputation as a leader in advanced
technology solutions (Pereira, 2024).

3.1.2 Weakness

High Dependence on GPU Market

13
Nvidia’s business heavily relies on a few key markets, such as gaming and data centers, with
graphic cards accounting for nearly 90% of its total profit. Over the past decade, these products
have consistently generated more than 83% of Nvidia’s profit. This high dependency on a single
product type poses a significant risk, as disruptive innovations could render graphics cards
obsolete, threatening the company’s future (Dudovskiy, 2023).

Supply Chain Complexity and Market Concentration

Nvidia's complex supply chain, which depends on multiple global suppliers and manufacturers,
poses operational risks due to its reliance on third-party partners, most of whom are based
outside the United States. This dependency exposes the company to potential disruptions from
geopolitical tensions, natural disasters, or pandemics, making supply chain management crucial
for maintaining product availability and customer satisfaction. Additionally, despite expanding
its range of products, Nvidia remains exposed to concentration risks, as a large share of its
revenue depends on a small group of customers. Any loss of key clients or shifts in their
purchasing behavior could adversely affect the company's financial performance (GuruFocus
Research, 2024).

3.1.3 Opportunity

Technology Innovation and Creativity

Nvidia is well-positioned to capitalize on opportunities in the automotive industry and AI

technology. As a major supplier, its AI innovations will significantly impact autonomous vehicles
(AVs), advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), software-defined vehicles (SDVs), and
infotainment. Nividia's software strategy, including the CUDA platform and NIM software, is
crucial for success in automotive AI. The Omniverse platform helps create digital twins for
design, testing, and simulation. In the fiscal year ending January 2024, Nvidia's automotive
revenue reached nearly $1.1 billion (Juliussen, 2024).

Robotics also presents a major opportunity, with potential market values reaching $12 trillion,
according to Ark Invest. Nvidia's software for creating real-time 3D environments positions it to
lead in this sector (Martinez, 2025). In March 2024, Nvidia introduced Blackwell, a new
technology designed to enhance AI capabilities. The Blackwell Architecture combines two GPUs

14
into one chip for faster AI processing. It also includes strong security features, suitable for
sensitive industries like healthcare. Finally, the fifth-generation NV Link allows fast
communication among multiple GPUs, which is essential for complex tasks (Kaur Vohra, 2024).

3.1.4 Threat

Supply Chain Vulnerabilities

Nvidia faces significant risks in its supply chain, mainly due to geopolitical uncertainties and its
dependence on major suppliers like Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC).
As TSMC dominates over 60% of global chip foundry investments, its role is crucial for Nvidia’s
advanced production. However, global political tensions, trade conflicts, and economic sanctions
create challenges that could disrupt semiconductor supply. For instance, strained relations
between the U.S. and China have raised concerns about supply chain stability for companies
relying on TSMC. The primary risks involve export restrictions, political instability in key
manufacturing regions, and potential sanctions affecting critical suppliers. (Restack, 2024).

Competitive Pressure

The biggest threat to Nvidia’s data center business is the shift of AI processing from server farms
to personal devices like laptops, PCs, and phones. Companies like Apple and Microsoft are
developing smaller AI models that require less power and can run on battery-powered devices,
reducing the need for powerful GPUs. Additionally, Apple and Qualcomm are enhancing their
chips with specialized AI sections, increasing competitive pressure on Nvidia. (Leswing, 2024).

3.2 PESTEL Analysis

3.2.1 Political Factors

Nvidia operates in a global market where political factors greatly affect its business. Geopolitical
tensions, like the trade wars between the U.S. and China, have impacted Nvidia's supply chain
and market access. Tariffs on imported parts have raised production costs, while export
restrictions have limited market opportunities (Bloomberg, 2024). In 2019, the U.S. government-
imposed tariffs on Chinese goods, increasing costs for Nvidia since many components are made

15
in China. Because of this, Nvidia is looking at new supply chain strategies and considering
moving some manufacturing to other countries (Nvidia, 2024).

Changes in government policies, such as tax rules and trade agreements, create both
opportunities and challenges for Nvidia. Positive policies, like tax breaks for research and
development (R&D), encourage innovation. In contrast, restrictive policies can limit market
growth. For example, the U.S. government’s tax cuts in 2018 gave Nvidia more money to
allocate funds for exploration and innovation, leading to advancements in AI and GPU
technologies (Nvidia, 2024).

3.2.2 Economic Factors

The global economy has greatly influenced Nvidia's financial performance. In a weak economy,
consumer spending and business investments decline, leading to lower demand for Nvidia's
products (IBISWorld, 2024). During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Nvidia faced a drop in
demand for its gaming GPUs, but the need for data center solutions and AI technologies helped
offset some losses (Nvidia, 2024). When the economy grows, demand for Nvidia's GPUs and
data center solutions increases. For instance, the recovery in 2021 led to record revenues for the
company (Financial Times, 2024). Currency fluctuations also impact Nvidia; a strong U.S. dollar
in 2022 made products more expensive overseas, potentially hurting sales (Statista, 2024).

Inflation and interest rates are key factors for Nvidia's performance as well. High inflation raises
production costs, often passed on to consumers as higher prices, reducing demand, especially in
price-sensitive markets. Fluctuations in interest rates influence the cost of borrowing and impact
investment decisions. For example, higher rates in 2023 raised financing costs for new projects,
possibly limiting growth opportunities (Nvidia, 2024).

3.2.3 Social Factors

Social factors like changing consumer preferences and workforce diversity have impacted
Nvidia’s operations. The rise of eSports and virtual reality has increased demand for high-
performance GPUs (Ask, 2024). In 2021, Nvidia launched the GeForce RTX 30 series, gaining

16
strong sales and market share (Nvidia, 2024). Nvidia values diversity and inclusion, which
boosts its reputation and attracts talent. A diverse team enhances innovation and creativity
(Nvidia, 2024). Skilled professionals in tech and engineering are crucial for Nvidia’s growth. The
company invests in training programs to develop talent and ensure technological advancement
(Spanjaart, 2024). Consumer awareness of data privacy has changed expectations for
transparency and security from tech companies. Nvidia complies with data protection regulations
and addresses privacy concerns. The focus on work-life balance and remote work influences
Nvidia’s workplace policies, helping it attracts and retain top talent in a competitive market
(Technewsday, 2024).

3.2.4 Technological Factors

Nvidia focuses on technological advancements as a key part of its strategy. The company heavily
invests in research and development to remain competitive in the technology industry.
Innovations in artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and graphics processing unit (GPU)
technology drive growth and help create advanced products (Law, 2024).

In 2020, Nvidia launched the Tensor Core GPU, which improved AI and machine learning
capabilities, making it popular in data centers and research institutions. (Nvidia, 2024).
However, fast changes in technology can make products outdated quickly. To keep up, Nvidia
must persist in advancing technology and allocating resources to research and development.
(Hivelr Business Review, 2024). Nvidia need to sustain to innovate and invest in R&D while
also protecting its intellectual property and customer data from cyber threats (Leyden, 2024).

Emerging technologies like quantum computing and blockchain present opportunities and
challenges. Quantum computing can transform industries by solving complex problems, and
Nvidia is researching its applications to stay relevant. Blockchain offers chances for secure
transactions but requires the company to handle related regulations and security issues (Nvidia,
2024).

17
3.2.5 Legal Factors

Legal factors are crucial for Nvidia. Protecting intellectual property helps the company stay
competitive, as legal issues and patent infringements can harm operations and finances (U.S.
Patent and Trademark Office, 2024). For example, in 2021, Nvidia settled a patent infringement
lawsuit from Xperi Corporation (Buck, 2024). Nvidia must comply with various regulations,
including antitrust and data protection laws. Non-compliance can lead penalties payable and
damage its reputation (SEC, 2024). Following labor laws in different countries is also essential
for maintaining a positive work environment (International Labour Organization, 2024). Nivida
needs to stay informed about international trade laws that could impact global operations. For
