Submitted to:

(Student 2)
Group Rule:
Work in groups of 2 students.
Every group must choose a different mini-organization/domain so that no two projects look the
same.
Examples of domains:
• Online Book Store
• Clinic / Hospital Appointment System
• Hostel / Mess Management
• Vehicle Rental System
• Event Management System
• Library Management
• Gym Membership System
• Home Tuition Booking
Important: No two groups may have the same domain + organization name + business rules.
Learning Outcomes / Concepts Checked:
1. Understanding data models, relations, attributes, and keys.
2. Ability to build an ER Model with correct entities, attributes, cardinality, and modality.
3. Converting ERD into relational schema with primary and foreign keys.
4. Performing Normalization up to 3NF using functional dependencies.
5. Writing SQL (DDL + DML + queries).
Project Parts (Step-by-Step)
Part 1: Domain Selection & Description
Choose a unique system/domain for your group.
Include:
• Organization name
• Short description (4–6 lines)
• List of 6–10 business rules
Business rules must be different for each group.
Part 2: ER Diagram
Based on your business rules, design a complete ERD:
• Entities with attributes
• Identify primary keys
• Relationship types
• Cardinalities and modalities
• Weak entities (if any)
• Multi-valued attributes (if any)
Part 3: Relational Schema
Convert your ERD to relational schema. For each relation, clearly write:
• Table name
• Attributes
• Primary Key
• Foreign Keys
• Relationship mapping notes
Part 4: Normalization (Up to 3NF)
For at least two important tables, show normalization steps:
• Unnormalized form (UNF)
• 1NF
• 2NF
• 3NF
• Show functional dependencies
• Show how partial and transitive dependencies were removed
Part 5: SQL Implementation
Write SQL queries for:
1. DDL (CREATE TABLE statements)
2. Insert at least 10 records per table
3. Simple SELECT queries
4. WHERE, ORDER BY, GROUP BY
5. Aggregate functions (MIN, MAX, SUM, COUNT, AVG)
6. Subqueries (1 mandatory)
7. JOIN queries (INNER, LEFT/RIGHT)
Part 6: Final Document Requirements The
final document must include:
• Cover page with group names & SAP IDs.
• Table of Contents
• All sections in order
• Conclusion
