Objectives for
learning
A. Define Hypertext Transfer Protocol
(HTTP) and its purpose.
B. List the HTTP Components
C. Actively participate in classroom
activities.
What is HTTP?
HTTP stands for Hypertext Transfer Protocol.

It is the protocol used by the World Wide Web to transfer data between servers
and browsers.

HTTP defines how messages are formatted and transmitted, as well as what
actions web servers and browsers should take in response to various commands.

HTTP operates on a client-server model, where the client sends an HTTP request
message to the server, which in turn sends an HTTP response message back to
the client.
Here are some examples of HTTP:

1. When you type a URL into your web browser, the browser sends an HTTP
request to the server hosting the website, asking it to send back the content of
the page you want to view.

2. When you submit a form on a website, the data is typically sent to the server
using an HTTP POST request.

3. When you click on a link on a web page, your browser sends an HTTP GET
request to the server for the new page you want to view.

4. APIs that allow different applications to communicate with each other often
use HTTP to transmit data between them.
What is HTTPS?
HTTPS stands for Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure

It is an encrypted version of the HTTP protocol, which is used to transmit

data over the internet. HTTPS provides a secure connection between a
user's web browser and a website, ensuring that all data transferred
between them is encrypted and private.

HTTPS is widely used by banks, e-commerce websites and other online

services to protect their users' data.

website speed is a critical aspect that is
GRADING considered. A slow website can lead to a
poor user experience and can cause

CRITERIA OF visitors to leave before they have even

seen what the website has to offer.

HTTP website security is also an important

consideration. Websites that are not
secure can be vulnerable to cyber attacks
and can lead to the theft of sensitive
information.

website accessibility is another essential

aspect of grading HTTP. A website that is
not accessible to people with disabilities
can limit the number of people who can
use it.

3. Instruct each group to find examples of each

5. Each group will be given 5 minutes to explore
the web browser’s developer tools.
