PART 1 — WHAT IS A CREATIVE STORY?

Creative stories are fictional — they are about things that have NOT happened or CANNOT happen in real life.
They are imaginary, fun, and exciting!

✅ Creative Story Topics ❌ NOT Creative (Essay) Topics

A girl who found a magic lamp Your favorite meal
A boy who shrinks to the size of an ant Why English is important
A kid who can talk to animals A historical figure you respect
A superhero who saves the world What you want to be in the future
A magic camera that teleports people Three ways to stay healthy
A monster that is scared of people Would you rather be strong or popular?

★ The key test: Could this REALLY happen? If no — it's a creative story. If yes — it's an essay.
PART 2 — STORY STRUCTURE

Every creative story has three parts. Think of them like a mountain:

SECTION WHAT IT INCLUDES LENGTH

Introduce: Time → Character(s) → Setting
🟡 Beginning ~5–7 sentences
Explain the character's goal or mission.
Start a Problem → Problem → Solution (3
🔵 Middle attempts: 1st fails, 2nd fails, 3rd works!) ~8 or more sentences
This is the LONGEST part — all the action is here!
Character's Actions & Feelings → Lesson Learned
→ Future Plans
🔴 Ending ~4–5 sentences
The shortest part, but the most important — it
teaches the lesson.

Myelin 5-Step Story Mountain

Step 1 — The characters and the settings (Beginning)

Introduction
Step 2 — Rising Where the problem begins — something happens to the protagonist
Action
Step 3 — Climax A turning point of the story — the biggest problem or obstacle
Step 4 — Falling Where the problem is solved — someone helps or the character finds a solution
Action
Step 5 — The ending of the story with a lesson
Resolution

6 Elements Every Story Needs

Element What it means Think about…

1. Character The person or animal your story is about. Name? Appearance? Personality? (funny,
brave, shy, curious)
2. Setting The place AND time of the story. Forest, school, under the sea? What do
you see, hear, or feel there?
3. Goal / Mission What the character is trying to do or find. What does your character want? Why do
they want it?
4. Problem Something that stops the character from What gets in their way? How does the
reaching the goal. character feel about it?
5. Solution How the character fixes the problem. Do they think of a clever idea? Do they
get help from someone?
6. Ending / What happens after the problem is Does the character reach the goal? What
Lesson solved. do they learn?
PART 3 — THE BEGINNING

The beginning is about 5–7 sentences long. It must introduce THREE things: Time → Character(s) → Setting.

1. TIME — When does the story take place?

Always start your story by telling WHEN it happens. It can be specific or general.

Fairy-tale / Fantasy Times Modern / Everyday Times

• Once upon a time • One day...
• A long long time ago • One morning / afternoon / evening...
• Back in the days when animals could talk • A few years ago,
• Back in the days when fairies were real • Last summer / fall / winter / spring,
• In the old days • One seemingly typical day,
• Back in the ancient times • On a seemingly typical Tuesday
• In a time long forgotten • Last Monday,
• Before history was written • When I was ___ years old,
• Many moons ago • One spooky night,
• In the days of old • One quiet day,
• In an age of magic and wonder • One scorching summer day,

2. CHARACTER(S) — Who is in the story?

Always give your character a NAME and USE their name throughout the story. Don't just write 'she' or 'he' the
whole time!

Formula: Time + Character Name + Description

Example (3rd person): "Once upon a time, there was a beautiful princess named Aurora."
Example (1st person): "Last Monday, I went to the park with my family."

How to describe your character — write about their appearance AND personality:

Appearance (What do they look like?) Personality (What kind of person are they?)
• hair color and style • brave / shy / curious
• eye color • kind / rude / funny
• height / build • clever / impatient / generous
• clothes they wear • adventurous / cautious
• special features (freckles, scars, etc.) • honest / stubborn
• any objects they always carry • creative / hardworking

3. SETTING — Where does the story take place?

ALWAYS tell where the characters are. Also explain a little of WHAT is happening there or WHY your character is
there.

Fantasy / Adventure Settings Describing the Setting

• In a distant land • What do you SEE there?
• In a land far far away • What do you HEAR there?
• Deep in the heart of the forest • What do you FEEL there (temperature, mood)?
• At the edge of the world • Is it dark or bright? Spooky or cheerful?
• Beyond the clouds • What makes this place special or different?
• In the enchanted woods • Are there any wild animals or creatures there?
• Hidden in the mist
• Somewhere in the abandoned city
• In the oldest library in town
• In the cold darkness of space
• In a small town by the sea
• Far beyond the rolling hills
PART 4 — THE MIDDLE

The middle is the LONGEST part of your story — at least 8 sentences. This is where ALL the action happens. It has
3 parts: Start a Problem → Problem → Solution.

1. START A PROBLEM — Build up to the problem!

This happens RIGHT BEFORE the problem. Think about what your character wants. What will stop or make it
hard for them to get it?

Rising Action Starters — Something Happens!

Everything seemed normal, but...
On the way home...
At that moment...
When she took a deep breath...
Something weird caught his eye...
While walking in the forest...
He stumbled upon a hidden door...
She ran into a magical creature...
He couldn't believe his eyes...
Something unbelievable happened...
Out of nowhere something unexpected took place...
One seemingly typical day, [character] was [doing something] when...

2. PROBLEM — The climax or main obstacle!

What is the bad thing that happens? The problem can be dangerous, confusing, or something the character
needs to solve. It usually happens suddenly or without the character realizing.

Climax / Problem Starters

Out of the shadows...
Little did she know...
Without warning...
Something didn't feel right...
In an instant...
From the darkness...
Unfortunately...
Without a sound...
With a wicked grin...
The evil laughter filled the air...
The sky darkened...
A dark figure appeared...

3. SOLUTION — The character solves the problem (usually takes 3 tries!)

Usually, the character does NOT find the solution right away. They have to try things that might fail first, until
they find something that works.

Try What happens / Starter words

1st Try (fails) — at least 2 First, _______________. However, ....
sentences → It didn't work because...
2nd Try (fails) — at least 2 Then, _______________. Unfortunately, ...
sentences → It still didn't work because...

sentences → It worked! The character solved the problem.

In a jiffy...
In a flash...
A brilliant idea came to him / her...
He / She came up with a great idea...
She zipped through the forest...
PART 5 — THE ENDING

The ending is the shortest part (~4–5 sentences), but it's very important because it tells the lesson. It has 3 parts:
Character's Actions & Feelings → Lesson → Future Plans.

1. CHARACTER'S ACTIONS & FEELINGS

What happens AFTER the problem is solved? How does your character feel now that everything is okay? What
are they doing?

Resolution / Ending Starters

From that day on...
From that day onward...
Ever since then...
Everything was back to normal...
This was just the beginning of another journey...
Some mysteries still remained...
Magic is always hidden around us...
With their mission complete...
His / Her heart was full of joy...
Some new challenges were waiting for her...
The memory would never fade...
The villain never returned again...

2. LESSON LEARNED
What did the character learn from the story? A good story always teaches the reader something. Think about
the problem — what should the character do or not do in the future?

Problem in story Lesson learned

Spent all money on toys and couldn't eat lunch I learned to not waste money on things I don't need
right away.
Didn't study for a test and got everything wrong I learned to work hard if I want to do well in school.
Lied to my friends and they got angry I learned that being honest is important if you want
to have friends.
Didn't water my plant and it died I learned to be responsible and take care of my
things.
Went to bed late and missed the school trip I learned that sleep is more important than staying
awake late.
Pushed my sister and she got hurt I learned that sharing is fun and it's not good to
hurt others.

3. FUTURE PLANS
End your story by telling what the character plans to do next, or what they will do differently next time a similar
problem happens.

Future Plans — Sentence Starters

Since _____, [character] decided to _____ instead.
Next time, [character] will _____ so that _____ won't happen again.

And so, [character] continued their adventures, wiser and braver than before.
That day, [character] made a promise to _____.
From that day on, [character] only used _____ in _____.

HOW things connect.

PART 7 — SENTENCE POWER-UPS & WRITING
TIPS

3 Tricks to Turn Short Sentences into SUPER Sentences

TRICK 1 — ADD JUICY DETAILS!

Use words that describe how something looks, sounds, or feels.
Boring: The dog barked.
Better: The fluffy brown dog barked loudly at the mailman.

TRICK 2 — CONNECT WITH MAGIC WORDS!

Use words like and, but, because, so to join two ideas together!
Boring: I was hungry.
Better: I was hungry, so I ate a gigantic sandwich.

TRICK 3 — ADD WHO, WHICH, OR THAT!

These words help add more information about something in your sentence.
Boring: I saw a robot.
Better: I saw a robot that danced like a ballerina.

Don't Be Ordinary — Be More Specific!

1. Use Descriptive Words

Replace vague words with descriptive adjectives or specific nouns:
• Yummy → Delicious / Tasty / Delectable / Scrumptious
• Fun → Exciting / Thrilling / Enjoyable / Entertaining
• Big → Gigantic / Enormous / Humongous

2. Show, Don't Just Tell

Instead of saying "He was kind," show what he does:
"He was kind by helping the new student find her classroom."

3. Add Examples or Reasons

Explain why or how. Don't just say "I like pizza" — say
"I like pizza because I love the gooey cheese and crispy crust."

4. Avoid Repeating the Same Words

Use synonyms or change the structure.
Instead of "It was fun. It was fun. It was fun," try "It was exciting and made me laugh a lot."

Make Your Story Events Connect!

When events are connected, your story makes sense and keeps the reader interested. Ask yourself:
• What happens first?
• What happens BECAUSE of that?
• How does each event lead to the next one?

Practice Cause-and-Effect Thinking:

• Because the boy forgot his umbrella, he got soaked in the rain.
• Since the dragon fell asleep, the knight escaped quietly.
Goal: Make your story flow smoothly from beginning to end!

Final Draft Checklist

• Indent each paragraph — leave a 2-finger space at the start
• Skip one full line after each paragraph
• Write as neatly as you can
• Every paragraph has the right number of sentences (Beginning: 5–7, Middle: 8+, Ending: 4–5)
• Characters have names — not just 'she' and 'he'
• The problem has at least 2 failed attempts before the solution works
• The ending includes a lesson learned
• No paragraph starts every sentence the same way

Story 1
A girl who found a magic lamp
Source: Myelin Writing Connection Book 2A — Story 1

Beginning
Once upon a time, in a distant land, there was a kind little girl named Elaine. One seemingly typical
day, Elaine was playing near a quiet stream when she found a strange, old lamp. The lamp was shiny and
bright. Elaine picked it up and rubbed it gently.

Middle
At that moment, she couldn't believe her eyes. A friendly genie appeared from the lamp. The genie
smiled and said, 'I can grant you three wishes.' Elaine was very happy. She wished for a wonderful day
and for many friends to share her joy. But unfortunately, not far away, an evil wizard living in the tallest
tower saw the magic lamp. He was dark and grumpy. The wizard wanted the lamp for himself. Quick as a
flash, he snatched the lamp away from Elaine. Elaine felt scared and very sad. Elaine did not give up. She
ran into the deep, green forest. There, she met three brave animal friends: a fast rabbit, a clever bird,
and a strong deer. Elaine told them, 'The bad wizard took my magic lamp. Can you help me get it back?'
Soon after, they made a smart plan. They followed the wizard to his tall, dark tower. The rabbit hopped
out suddenly, making funny jumps around the wizard. The wizard turned his head. Without a moment's
hesitation, the clever bird flew over the wizard's head and spotted the magic lamp on a dusty shelf inside
the tower. While the wizard was busy, the strong deer quietly stepped forward and took the lamp from
the wizard's hand. The wizard shouted, 'No! Give me back my lamp!' But Elaine and her friends ran
quickly out of the tower, laughing and jumping over logs and streams.
Ending
Ever since then, Elaine held the lamp tight. The friendly genie came out again and said, 'Thank you
for your courage and your kind heart.' Elaine made a new wish. She wished for peace and happiness for
all her friends and the forest. In a blink, the genie made everything bright and joyful. The bad wizard
disappeared, and he was never seen again. Elaine, the rabbit, the bird, and the deer played together
every day in the sunny forest. And from that day on, the magic lamp always shone a light on their happy
adventures.

Story 2
A boy who found a magic door
Source: Myelin Writing Connection Book 2A — Story 2

Beginning
A long time ago, when fairies were real, a brave boy named John lived at the edge of the world. Even
though he was young, John always stood up for what was right. He once reported bad people to the
police and even received a reward for his bravery.

Middle
One seemingly typical day, while running an errand for his mother, John saw a mysterious golden
door. The word 'magic' was written in big letters at the center of the door. Feeling curious, he reached
out, turned the doorknob, and stepped inside. The next moment, John couldn't believe his eyes. He was
floating in the middle of space! Planets and stars moved around him in beautiful orbits. In the distance,
he saw a planet that looked like Earth, but instead of going back home, he decided to explore the new
worlds around him. When he arrived at a planet with a bright golden ring, he was surrounded by cute
little rabbits. The rabbits were crying. They told John that tigers from a nearby planet attacked them
every day and tried to eat them. John felt sorry for the scared rabbits and wanted to help. Then, he
remembered a story his grandmother had told him that tigers were afraid of dried persimmons! John
and the rabbits quickly sprang into action to gather fresh persimmons and laid them out under the hot
sun to dry. After many hours, they had made hundreds of dried persimmons and hung them in front of
every rabbit's house. The next day, the fierce tigers arrived, growling and showing their sharp teeth. But
as soon as they smelled the sweet scent of dried persimmons, they became terrified! The tigers thought
the dried persimmons were dangerous and ran away as fast as they could. From that day on, the tigers
never returned, and the rabbits lived happily and safely.

Ending
Grateful for John's help, the rabbits led him to a magic door that would take him back home. John
stepped through the door and found himself safely back with his family. But as he looked around, he had
a feeling that some new challenges were waiting for him. What adventures would come next? John
couldn't wait to find out!

Story 3
A boy who discovers a magic camera that can teleport
Source: Myelin Writing Connection Book 2A — Story 3

Beginning
Many moons ago, in a small town by the sea, there lived a boy named Mickey. He loved watching
TV, but his big brother always took the remote. One seemingly typical day, on his way home from school,
Mickey found an old camera shop. Inside, he saw a strange, dusty camera. The shopkeeper smiled and
whispered, 'This is a special camera. It can teleport anything or anyone. Be careful!' Mickey took the
camera home, excited to try it.

Middle
That evening, everything seemed normal. Mickey wanted to watch his favorite show, Pokemon, but
his brother changed the channel. 'Not fair!' Mickey grumbled. Then, he came up with an amazing idea.
He pointed the camera at his brother and turned the Place button's dial to 'school'. Then, he took a
picture of his selfish brother. Poof! In the blink of an eye, his brother disappeared! Mickey looked
around. His brother was gone! Soon, Mickey realized the camera really could teleport even people!
Every time his brother took the remote, Mickey took a picture and sent him to school. Mickey laughed
and watched TV in peace. But one day, unfortunately, he dropped the camera. Crack! The button broke!
The next time he took a picture, his brother didn't go to school. Instead, he went to the hot African
desert! At first, Mickey was thrilled because he could watch whatever he wanted! But after a while, he
missed his brother. He felt guilty. Mickey ran back to the old camera shop and asked for help. The
shopkeeper said, 'The only way to fix this is to break the camera.' Mickey didn't want to, but he knew it
was the right thing to do. Mickey closed his eyes and SMASH! The camera broke. Suddenly, his brother
appeared at home, covered in sand and looking very confused. Mickey was so happy to see him!

Ending
From that day on, he couldn't always watch TV, but that was okay. He realized that watching TV with
his brother was better than watching it alone. So, he never went back to the magic camera shop again.

Story 4
A kid who shrinks to the size of an ant
Source: Myelin Writing Connection Book 2A — Story 4

Beginning
A long time ago, in an enchanted forest, there lived a boy named Andrew. He was an ordinary boy
who loved to play in nature with his best friend, a dog named Honey. They lived together in a small
wooden cabin. Honey was Andrew's only family, and he loved her very much.

Middle
One scorching summer day, while walking in the forest, Honey suddenly started digging in the
ground. To Andrew's surprise, she found a small bottle filled with a glowing magic potion! Andrew was
very thirsty, so without thinking, he drank the potion in a gulp. The moment he finished drinking,
something shocking happened. He shrank to the size of an ant! Andrew waved his arms and shouted, but
Honey couldn't hear him. She looked around, confused, then sadly walked back to the cabin. Andrew
was all alone. He started to cry, but then a kind sparrow flew by and offered to help. The sparrow let
Andrew ride on its back and took him home. When they arrived, Andrew saw Honey sleeping on the
floor. Just then, a mosquito flew past him. Andrew knew that mosquitoes could give dogs a deadly
disease called heartworm. He had to stop it! He climbed onto Honey's golden fur and ran toward her
back. The mosquito was about to stick its sharp needle-like mouth into Honey's skin! Andrew punched
the mosquito, but he was too small to hurt it. Soon, Andrew came up with an idea. He climbed up to
Honey's ear and shouted as loudly as he could, 'Honey! Wake up and shake your body!' Honey heard
Andrew's tiny voice and was so happy! She quickly stood up and shook her body. The mosquito was
scared and flew away as fast as it could. It never came back again.

Ending
Even though Andrew was still tiny, he felt safe because Honey could hear him. He stayed close to her
ear and talked to her every day. Honey still couldn't see Andrew, but she could feel that he was there.
Every night, Andrew slept beside her ear, hoping that one day, he would find another magic potion to
turn him back to normal. Until then, he would always stay by Honey's side.

Story 5
A kid who can talk to animals
Source: Myelin Writing Connection Book 2A — Story 5

Beginning
Back in the days when animals could talk, there lived a boy named Mowgli. He was a little boy who
lived in the jungle. But he was different from others because he could talk to animals! He learned the
language of the wolves, the birds, and even the elephants. His best friends were Bagheera the wise
panther and Baloo the funny bear.

Middle
Mowgli was happy in the jungle, but danger was near. Shere Khan, the fierce tiger, hated humans
and wanted to get rid of Mowgli. While walking in the jungle, Mowgli stumbled upon elephants who told
Mowgli that Shere Khan was looking for him. Bagheera said, 'Mowgli, you must go to the human village.
It is the only way to stay safe.' But Mowgli didn't want to leave his home. He asked the monkeys for help,
but they tricked him and took him to their king! Mowgli thought something didn't feel right, so soon he
started to cry. 'Baloo! Bagheera! Help me!' In an instant, Baloo and Bagheera arrived, fighting off the
monkeys and saving Mowgli. Mowgli was tired, so he sat under a tree to rest. Suddenly, Kaa the snake
appeared. 'Hello, little one,' Kaa hissed. 'You must be very sleepy...' His eyes glowed with magic, and
Mowgli's head felt heavy. Kaa was using hypnosis! But just then, a small bird chirped loudly, 'Wake up,
Mowgli! It's a trick!' Mowgli shook his head and ran away, escaping just in time. Slowly but surely,
Mowgli now understood that the jungle was full of danger. He finally decided to go to the human village.
But before he could leave, Shere Khan found him! The tiger growled, 'You don't belong here, boy.'
Mowgli looked around and saw a burning branch from a storm. He picked it up and held it high. 'I don't
want to fight, but I will protect myself!' he said. Shere Khan feared fire, so he roared and ran away into
the jungle.

Ending
From that day onward, Mowgli was safe, but he knew he could not stay in the jungle forever. He
walked toward the village and saw a young girl getting water from a river. She smiled at him. Mowgli
looked back at Baloo and Bagheera. 'I will never forget you,' he said. Though he was leaving, he knew the
memory would never fade away.

Story 6
A talking toy that goes on an adventure
Source: Myelin Writing Connection Book 2A — Story 6

Beginning
Back in the days when toys were alive, a boy named Max lived in a small town by the hill. Max had
two favorite toys — a cowboy named Woody and a space ranger named Buzz. He loved playing with
them every day. But what Max didn't know was that Woody and Buzz were special. When Max was
asleep or at school, they could move and talk just like real people!

Middle
During summer vacation, Max's family went on a long trip to Australia. Max forgot to take Woody
and Buzz with him, so they were left alone at home. At first, the toys were happy because they could talk
and play freely. But one stormy evening, a huge pink teddy bear appeared outside the window. He
introduced himself as Lotso. He told the toys that his owner had abandoned him after getting a new
teddy bear. Lotso was angry and sad. With a wicked grin, Lotso exclaimed, 'Children don't care about
toys! We don't need to be their friends anymore. When they try to play with us, we should bite their
fingers!' Woody and Buzz were shocked. They loved Max and didn't want to hurt him. 'You're wrong!
Max loves us!' Woody said. Lotso became furious. He decided to get rid of Woody and Buzz so they
wouldn't stop his plan. Lotso pushed Woody and Buzz into a garbage truck and sent them to a trash
incinerator. The flames were getting closer, and the heat was strong. Woody and Buzz thought they
were doomed! But just then, a garbage truck driver saw Lotso. 'What a cute teddy bear!' the driver said.
Instead of throwing Lotso away, he tied him to the front of the truck as a decoration.

Ending
With Lotso gone, Woody and Buzz escaped safely. A few days later, Max returned home from his
trip. When he saw his toys, he hugged them tightly. 'I missed you so much!' he said. Woody and Buzz
were happy to be back with Max. They knew that real love between a toy and a child would never fade.
And from that day on, they continued their fun adventures together!

Story 7
A child who helps a monster scared of people
Source: Myelin Writing Connection Book 2A — Story 7

Beginning
In a time long forgotten, there was a brave and curious girl named Sunny living somewhere in the
abandoned city. She was different from other girls. While many loved fairies and princesses, Sunny liked
monsters and dragons. She always dreamed of meeting a real monster.

Middle
One typical night, something unbelievable happened. While Sunny was sleeping, a huge monster
crawled out from under her bed! The monster's name was Sulley, and he came from Monster Land.
Monsters in Monster Land scared children to earn money. The louder a child screamed, the more money
the monster made. But Sulley had a big problem. He was afraid of people! Instead of scaring kids, he
always ran away. Sunny wanted to help Sulley overcome his fear, so she sprang into action. She took him
to her kindergarten. She introduced him to her friends and teacher. Everyone was surprised at first, but
soon, they laughed and played with Sulley. He learned that humans were not scary at all. Next, Sunny
took Sulley to an amusement park, where many children petted him and took pictures with him. Sulley
eventually started to enjoy being around people. After spending time with Sunny, Sulley was no longer
scared of people. Just then, a brilliant idea came to him. He returned to Monster Land and went to see
the Monster King. He told the king, 'We should not scare children. Instead, we should be their friends!'
At first, the other monsters were shocked, but then they saw how happy Sulley was. Maybe being
friends with humans was a better idea!

Ending
From that day on, monsters and children became good friends. They didn't scare each other
anymore. Instead, they played together and shared fun stories. And as for Sunny? She knew she had
changed the world forever with her kindness and her love for monsters.

corals.

Middle
One seemingly typical day, while Oscar was swimming, he suddenly saw a big shadow behind him. It
was a giant shark twice his size, showing its sharp teeth and smiling! Oscar panicked and tried to swim to
the surface as fast as he could, but the shark was too fast. Just when he thought he would be eaten, he
heard a gentle voice. 'Don't be scared! My name is Lenny, and I don't eat fish or meat. I'm a vegetarian!'
Oscar was surprised but noticed that Lenny looked very sad. Lenny told Oscar that because he refused to
eat fish, his family and friends ignored him. 'They think I'm strange, and they don't want to play with
me,' Lenny said, wiping away a tear. Not only that, but Lenny was also very weak and sick because he
wasn't eating the right food for his body. Oscar wanted to help his new friend, so he thought about a sea
creature that didn't eat fish — the dugong! Soon after, Oscar took Lenny to his dugong friend, who was
big and strong but only ate plants. The dugong shared his secret — tofu and seaweed! 'If you eat these,
you will be strong and healthy,' the dugong said. Lenny started eating tofu and seaweed every day. Soon,
he became bigger, stronger, and full of energy. He even won the Shark Arm Wrestling Competition!

Ending
When Lenny's family and friends saw how strong and happy he was, they stopped ignoring him. 'You
are still one of us, even if you don't eat fish!' they said. Lenny was finally accepted, and he was never
lonely again. From that day on, Oscar and Lenny swam together every day, exploring the ocean and
having fun adventures. They stayed best friends forever.

Story 10
A kid who can control nature
Source: Myelin Writing Connection Book 2A — Story 10

Beginning
A long time ago, in a peaceful village surrounded by mountains and rivers, there lived a boy named
Liam. But Liam was not an ordinary child. He had a special gift. He could control nature! When he waved
his hands, the wind would dance. When he touched the ground, flowers would bloom. If he whispered
to the trees, their leaves would rustle in reply. The villagers admired Liam because he used his powers to
help everyone.

Middle
One ordinary summer day, the village faced a big problem. No rain fell for many weeks, and the river
dried up. Without water, the crops began to wither, and the animals grew weak. The villagers became
worried. 'Liam, please bring the rain! You have the power to help us!' they pleaded. Liam felt proud that
they trusted him, so he stood in the middle of the village and raised his hands to the sky. He waved his
arms and called for rain, but nothing happened. He tried again and again, but the sky stayed clear. Liam
felt frustrated. Why wasn't his power working? Feeling hopeless, Liam went to see the wise old woman
who lived at the edge of the village. She smiled and said, 'Liam, nature is not something to control, but
something to understand.' Liam was confused. 'But I've always made the wind blow and the trees grow.
Why can't I bring the rain?' The old woman handed him a small bowl of water and said, 'Try to hold this
water in your hands without spilling it.' Liam cupped his hands tightly, but the water slipped through his
fingers. The woman laughed softly. 'You see, Liam, when you force something, it runs away. But if you
ask gently, it may stay.' Liam thought carefully about her words. Instead of forcing the sky to rain, he
listened to nature. He felt the wind's gentle whisper, the dry earth's quiet sigh, and the trees' silent
longing. Slowly, Liam raised his hands, but this time, he didn't demand rain. Instead, he asked for help.
Suddenly, the first raindrops fell, then more, until a steady rain soaked the thirsty ground. The river
filled, the crops stood tall again, and the villagers cheered with joy.

Ending
From that day on, Liam understood that his power was not about control, but about harmony. He no
longer tried to force nature to do what he wanted. Instead, he learned to work with nature, respect its
balance, and listen to its needs. And so, Liam and his village lived happily, always in harmony with the
world around them.

Story 11
An astronaut who discovered a new planet
Source: Myelin Writing Connection Book 2A — Story 11

Beginning
In a small mountain village, a 7-year-old boy named Neil Armstrong spent every night gazing at the
stars. 'Someday, I'll go up there,' he whispered to the sky. Years later, that little boy's dream came true.
He became an astronaut at NASA and finally reached the stars he had always loved.

Middle
One quiet day, Neil Armstrong flew his rocket far into space. He saw a shiny purple planet he had
never seen before. 'Wow! A new planet!' he exclaimed with great excitement. He landed gently and
stepped outside. To his surprise, the planet was full of octopuses! They wore hats, glasses, and even
little boots. 'Welcome!' they greeted. Neil laughed and played with them all day. But that night, while
walking past a cave, he heard something. The octopuses were having a secret meeting. 'We will go to
Earth next week!' whispered one. 'Yes! We will use our big robot arms to take over their cities!' said
another with a wicked grin. Neil gasped. 'Oh no... they want to take over Earth!' Without a moment's
hesitation, he sprang into action to stop them. So he went to the Octopus King, who had ten golden
crowns stacked on his head. 'Mr. Octopus,' Neil pleaded, 'please don't take over Earth.' The king blinked.
'Why not? We want to see what Earth is like.' Neil smiled. 'Then visit, don't fight. On Earth, we share
pizza and puppies with you. But if you attack, we will be scared, and you will be lonely.' The king thought
for a moment. Then he nodded slowly. 'Hmm... Pizza and puppies do sound better than war.'

Ending
Finally, the octopuses made a new plan: a peace trip to Earth, not a battle! Neil climbed back into his
rocket and flew home. When he got back, the sky was blue, the people were smiling, and the Earth was
safe. And somewhere in the stars, the octopuses were busy learning how to say 'hello' instead of 'take
over.'

Story 12
A girl whose bedroom turned into a maze
Source: Myelin Writing Connection Book 2A — Story 12

Beginning
In a quiet village with tall trees and sleepy stars, there lived a boy named Harry Potter. He was no
ordinary kid. He had a wild imagination, messy hair, and a scar shaped like a lightning bolt. One rainy
night, Harry was lying in bed, reading a book about treasure mazes and magic cups. 'I wish something
exciting would happen,' he whispered, just before turning off the light.

Middle
At that very moment, the floor shook beneath him. His bed spun in a circle. His bookshelf stretched
tall, and the walls began to shift! When Harry opened his eyes, his bedroom was gone. It had become a
giant maze! The walls were made of stone. The floor glowed faintly, and shadows danced on the corners.
'Hello?' Harry called out, but his voice echoed back to him. He took a deep breath and started walking
through the twisting paths. But the maze wasn't empty. Little did he know, behind every turn, something
was waiting. Slippery shadow snakes slithered behind chairs. Grumpy goblins popped out from under
tables. A floating, giggling ghost chased him through a tunnel made of socks! Harry ran, ducked, and
climbed. He hid behind curtains and slid through cracks in the wall. His heart pounded like a drum. All he
wanted was to go back to bed! Finally, after what felt like hours, he reached the very center of the maze.
In the middle of a glowing circle stood a tall pedestal. On it sat a shiny golden cup, sparkling like a star.
But just as Harry reached for it, a huge monster stepped out of the shadows. It had glowing red eyes,
long claws, and roared like thunder. Harry froze. The monster lunged toward him, but Harry grabbed the
golden cup just in time! A bright light flashed, and everything disappeared. Poof!

Ending
In a puff of smoke, Harry was back in his bed. His blanket was warm, his room was quiet, and the
rain still tapped gently on the window. He sat up, blinking. Then he smiled. 'That,' he whispered, 'was the
best adventure ever.' He snuggled under the covers, yawned, and fell into a deep, sweet sleep.

Story 13
A boy who got an invisible cape
Source: Myelin Writing Connection Book 2A — Story 13

Beginning
In a town with snow-covered rooftops, there lived a boy named William. He was 7 years old and
loved bugs and his pet lizard, Zippy. William took Zippy everywhere in his pocket, in his backpack, even
to the bathtub.

Middle
On Christmas morning, William ran to the tree and found a small box with a tag that read: 'To
William, from Santa. Use wisely!' Inside was something that looked like... nothing! But when he touched
it, he felt soft fabric. It was a real invisible cape! That night, as always, William's parents said, 'Bedtime!
It's 9 o'clock!' But William had other plans. Patiently, he waited until the house was quiet. Then he
grabbed his invisible cape, gently tucked Zippy into the pocket, and tiptoed out the door. His destination
was the Bug Museum, a place he'd always wanted to explore after hours. When he slipped inside, the
museum was dark... but not quiet. The insects in the glass displays were talking. The ants were doing
conga lines. The beetles were beatboxing. The butterflies were twirling like ballerinas. It was a bug dance
party! William, hidden under the cape, watched with wide eyes. 'Zippy, this is amazing,' he whispered.
But just then, a bumblebee's stinger had caught on the edge of the cape. It slipped off and fell to the
ground. The music stopped. The bugs turned. 'A HUMAN!' yelled a cricket with sunglasses. The wasps
buzzed into a storm and flew straight at William! He backed up fast, but too late! Suddenly, Zippy leapt
from his pocket in a blink of an eye! The little lizard opened his mouth wide and SNAP! SNAP! caught the
bugs trying to attack William. The other insects screamed and scattered.

Ending
Using the moment, William grabbed his cape, scooped up Zippy, and ran like the wind all the way
home. His heart pounding like a drum. Back in bed, out of breath, William pulled the blanket over his
head. 'I think,' he whispered to Zippy, 'next time... we go on adventures during the day.' From that night
on, William only used his invisible cape in sunlight. And as for Zippy, he was no longer just a pet. He was
a hero.

Story 14
A child who found a dragon egg in the backyard
Source: Myelin Writing Connection Book 2A — Story 14

Beginning
In a land far far away, there lived a 7-year-old girl named Sunny. Every day felt the same for her, so
she felt bored. Sunny was interested in fossils, so she loved digging in her backyard, hoping to find
something amazing underground.

Middle
One ordinary afternoon, she was digging near the garden when her shovel hit something hard.
'Huh?' she was puzzled. She brushed away the dirt and found a big, speckled egg. It was as giant as a
soccer ball and warm to the touch! Sunny kept it warm, and even read it bedtime stories. A few days
later, CRACK! The egg wobbled... then cracked again... and out popped a tiny baby dragon! Sunny named
him Flint. She loved Flint, but she knew that people were afraid of dragons. So she hid him in her
treehouse, fed him secretly, and trained him to be gentle. Flint grew bigger and stronger every week, but
always stayed hidden. Then one terrible day, an evil villain named Mr. Ice came to the village. He froze
everything — houses, roads, even the lake. Snowstorms filled the air, and everyone shivered in fear.
With extreme anger, Sunny looked at Flint. He was no longer a baby. He was huge, powerful, and ready.
'It's time,' she whispered firmly. Together, they flew to Mr. Ice's frozen castle on top of the hill. Mr. Ice
laughed at Sunny. 'What can a little girl do?' he sneered. But Sunny pointed behind her. 'I brought a
friend.' With one mighty breath, Flint blasted fire at the castle. The ice melted, the towers crumbled, and
the evil Mr. Ice was defeated in a flash of steam and flames. Flint then flew over the village, breathing
gentle warmth into every frozen home. The snow melted, the sun came back, and the people cheered.

Ending
From that day on, no one feared dragons. They called Flint the Guardian of the Village, and Sunny
was known as the girl who believed in something everyone else feared. As long as Flint flew through the
sky, everyone knew the village would always be safe.

A girl who woke up to find her family was gone
Source: Myelin Writing Connection Book 2A — Story 15

Beginning
Elaine was 7 years old and the youngest of seven siblings. She lived in a busy apartment in New York
City with her brothers, sisters, and parents. Every year, right before Christmas, her family had a special
tradition. They all flew to London together. The night before the big trip, Elaine fell asleep with a big
smile on her face.

Middle
Unfortunately, the next morning when she woke up, the house was silent. Too silent. Elaine rubbed
her eyes and tiptoed into the kitchen. 'Mom? Dad? Lily? Sam? Anybody?' They were gone. At first, Elaine
froze. Her heart thumped. 'Did they really leave without me?' She felt a little sad but then, her eyes lit
up. She grinned. 'This might actually be fun to be home alone!' With great excitement, she ate ten pieces
of MyChew her mom always said 'no' to. Then she played Pokémon game for two whole hours without
anyone asking for a turn. When night fell and the lights turned dim, the fun didn't feel so fun anymore.
She heard someone breaking into the apartment when she was about to go to bed. Elaine peeked
through the door. Two strange men in black clothes were tiptoeing into the living room. Her eyes
widened. Burglars! Elaine took a deep breath, then ran to her mom's computer and searched 'Scary
ghost sound effects' on YouTube. She turned the speaker all the way up. WOOOOOOOOOOOO...
AHHHHHHHHHHH! She threw on her ghost costume from Halloween, covered herself in a white sheet,
and floated out of her room groaning like a zombie. 'AAAAAAHH!' The burglars screamed, dropped their
bag, and ran out the front door like scared puppies. Elaine locked the door, panted, and sat on the
couch.

Ending
Just then, the front door opened again, but this time it was her mom, dad, and all six siblings, red-
faced and breathless. 'We forgot you!' her mom cried. Elaine just smiled. 'It's okay. I saved the house.'
They all hugged her tight, grabbed her suitcase, and raced to the airport.
