FADE IN:

INT. HOSTEL ROOM — EVENING

Dim warm light fills a small room. A single bed with an orange
checked bedsheet. Clothes hung everywhere — nothing has fully
dried in days.
RAM (20s), introverted, tired eyes, squeezes water from a damp
T-shirt into a bucket. Drip. Silence.
He looks toward the closed door — an entire world behind it.
He hesitates. Breath tightens.
Ram grabs a yellow plastic chair — bright, unmissable — and
places the shirt on top.
He opens the door just enough to slide out. A quick peek… then
he steps back inside.
He pushes the chair out of the room without fully stepping
outside.
He shuts the door fast. Back into darkness.
Ram lingers… then goes to the peephole.

PEEPHOLE POV — CORRIDOR

The yellow chair stands alone. Still. Silent.
Distant laughter echoes.
Ram watches… too long.
CUT TO:

INT. HOSTEL ROOM — NIGHT

Ram folds the dried clothes quickly — relief.
He glances at the chair still outside.
He thinks for a moment.
He leaves it there.
He switches off the light.
Sleeps.
INT. HOSTEL ROOM — NIGHT — LATER
Ram wakes abruptly. A voice outside.
BOY (O.S.)
(soft, emotional, on phone)
No yaar… I don’t think she cares anymore…
Ram freezes.
He slowly presses his eye to the peephole.

PEEPHOLE POV — YELLOW CHAIR

A student sits on the chair, hunched, wiping tears. Phone held
tight.
BOY (O.S.)
It’s like… she doesn’t even need me.
Ram listens, silent. Moved. Connected.
The boy leaves.
Silence returns.
Ram’s breathing is faster now.
He keeps staring at the now empty chair.
He doesn’t sleep again.

MONTAGE — DAYS PASS

— CORRIDOR — EVENINGS
A group of students chill around the chair, laughing too
loudly.
— PEEPHOLE
Ram watches, writing small notes in a diary.
“Green shirt guy — always cracking jokes.”
“Girl — cried yesterday, laughing today.”
— CORRIDOR
A couple sits too close. Romance.
Ram looks away… then looks again.
— ROOM
Ram on laptop — corridor webcam open.
He watches. Smiles sometimes.
His new routine begins.
Watching. Listening. Living through others.

INT. HOSTEL ROOM — NIGHT

Ram stands at his door.
Hand on knob.
He wants to stop them using his chair…
But he freezes.
Fear wins.
He backs away.

INT. HOSTEL ROOM — NEXT EVENING

Ram wakes from a nap — something feels wrong.
He rushes to the door — eye to peephole —

PEEPHOLE POV — EMPTY SPACE

The yellow chair is gone.
Silence.

INT. HOSTEL ROOM

Ram stumbles backward.
He searches the room like he misplaced something inside.
Panic.
He presses his forehead to the door.
Breath shaking.
Finally… courage.
He unlocks the door.

INT. CORRIDOR — CONTINUOUS

He steps out for the FIRST TIME in months.
His hands shake.
MARK (20s), a casual hostel guy, walks by.
RAM
(soft)
Bhai… chair?
MARK
Oh that yellow one? Broke last night. Threw it near the back
staircase.
Mark leaves. No big deal.
To Ram, it’s a crushing blow.
He swallows tears.
He keeps walking — terrified — but he keeps walking.

INT. SERVICE STAIRCASE — NIGHT

Cold green tube light.
Trash bags.
Mosquito coils.
Concrete echo.
There — the yellow chair lies broken.
One leg snapped off.
Ram kneels.
Touches the cracked plastic.
A moment of pure grief.
But then…
A breath.
A realization.
He picks up the broken chair.
He is no longer hiding.

INT. HOSTEL CORRIDOR — LATER

Ram walks slowly.
Chair held in both hands.
He looks ahead — not down.
He places the chair outside his door again.
Not for others.
For himself.
He looks at the view beyond the railing.
Lights of the campus in the cool night.
For the first time — he steps into the frame of life.
He sits on the chair.
He breathes a full breath.
He stays there.
