Physical Education is an essential part of education that promotes physical fitness, healthy living,

participate safely and effectively in different physical activities. Through the PATHFIT program,
students are encouraged to develop healthy habits, improve their physical fitness, and appreciate
the importance of an active lifestyle. Understanding the foundations, components, legal bases, and
safety principles of Physical Education prepares learners to become physically active, responsible,
and health-conscious individuals.

Physical Education
Physical Education (PE) is an academic discipline that focuses on improving health and fitness
through exercise, sports, games, and other physical activities. It develops students' physical abilities
while promoting social interaction, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship. Physical Education is
commonly offered in schools, colleges, universities, and fitness centers.

1. Socio-Cultural Foundation-Focuses on the role of physical activity in society and culture.
2. Scientific Foundation- Uses knowledge from anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, psychology, and
nutrition to improve physical performance.
3. Pedagogical Foundation- Focuses on effective teaching strategies and learning experiences that
help students develop physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially.

Physical Education consists of eight specialized areas of study.

Although related, PATHFIT and Physical Education have different purposes.

• A fitness program that develops lifelong healthy habits through physical activities and wellness.
Physical Education
• An academic subject that teaches concepts, knowledge, and skills related to movement, fitness,
health, and sports.
PATHFIT Health and Safety Guidelines
Students should always observe proper safety practices during physical activities.
• Perform warm-up exercises before activity.
• Perform cool-down exercises after activity.
• Use proper exercise techniques.
• Increase exercise intensity gradually.
• Drink enough water.
• Eat nutritious food.
• Get enough rest and recovery.
