Effective Study Habits
Active recall beats passive rereading. Instead of reading notes over and over, close the book and try to
write down what you remember, then check for gaps.
Spaced repetition helps long-term memory. Reviewing material after one day, then three days, then a
week, cements it far better than one long cramming session.
Teach the material to someone else, even an imaginary listener. Explaining a concept out loud exposes
the parts you don't actually understand yet.
Study in a quiet, consistent location if possible. Your brain starts to associate that space with focus,
which makes it easier to get into a working mindset.
Take practice tests under real conditions. Timing yourself and working without notes mimics the actual
exam and reduces surprise on test day.
Sleep matters more than an extra hour of studying. Memory consolidation happens during sleep, so an
all-nighter often does more harm than good.
