51. Read the passage below and then answer, in full sentences, the questions
that follow.
Mr. Mwima Yekonia is a baker in Bugungu Village. He specialises in baking bans and
doughnuts which he supplies to schools in his sub county. This project has earned
him reputation in the community. When the area Member of Parliament visited his
bakery on 19th February 2026, he gifted Mr. Mwima with a new oven to improve on
the production and supply of his products.

By the help of his motorcycle, Mr Mwima delivers the products to his customers
early in the morning and then, he collects his money from them every evening.
After two months, his business grew bigger as he started selling to customers in
other areas like markets, shops, and nearby trading centres.

Unfortunately, Mr Mwima was robbed of one million shillings one day as he was
returning home late in the night by unknown gunmen. “You should start keeping
money in the bank.” His friend Maluku advised him. The next day, they moved
together to Wazalendo Village Bank to open an account. Maluku helped his friend to

fill in all the required information so as to open the account. The information
included; the name, place of birth, next of kin, source of income and the signature.
Since Mwima was illiterate, Maluku filled in the data apart from the signature.

Mr Mwima started depositing the money he earns into his bank account. Every
month, he deposits two million shillings into the account. He has also taught this
skill to his five children. Every holiday, the children work with their father in the
baking process. Ronald, who is the first born, is involved in kneading the dough
whereas the rest deal in packing and supplying the bans and doughnuts to
customers in the nearby community.
The father uses the children’s earnings during the holidays to clear sh. 250,000 for
each of the four children at Mambosana Primary School and sh.500,000 for the first
born at Kweterana Seed Secondary School.

Most of the schools in this sub county have started taking pupils to Mr. Mwima’s
bakery for excursions in order to learn more about baking. People in this village
have appreciated his initiative of helping the young generation learn practical skills.
All the teachers in the two schools where his children study are so thankful to Mr
Mwima for being such a hard-working father that he supports his children to attain
the education they deserve.
