1. Graph of constant, linear and Quadratic functions

y=consta nt  橫線

x=constant  垂直線

y=mx+c

mslope 斜率
cy-intercept

Considering a,
+ve  open upwards
-ve  open downwards

Considering b,
B  the slope of 個 graph cut y-axis 嗰點
+ve  slope 係+ve
-ve  slope 係-ve

Considering c,
=the y-intercept

2. Value of functions
f (k )即係代表 put x=k 所得出嘅 value

Example: for f ( x )=2 x 2 +3 x, f ( 3 )=2 ( 3 )2+ 3 (3 )=27

3. Vertex of quadratic functions

3.1 搵 vertex 嘅方法：COMPETING THE SQUARE (format: y= ( x +h )2+ k ¿


Example: find the vertex of y=x 2 +2 x+ 3

STEPS:
① 抽走 x 2嘅 coefficient
② 將括號內轉做 a 2+2 ab +b2 format
( x 2+ 2 h x +h2 −h2+c)
③ 將 x 2+ 2 hx+ h2 㩒機變做 ( x +h )2
④ 計埋後面堆數出 k

Ans:

TRY: Find the vertex of y=2 x 2 +12 x +27

3.2 Axis of Reflectional symmetry


**即係穿過 vertex 嘅垂直線**
IF vertex=(h ,k ), then the axis of reflectional symmetry 就係 x=h
Example: find the axis of reflectional symmetry of y=x 2 +2 x+ 3

例題：Solve −x 2−3 x+ 4 >0

STEPS x3:
① 搵返 quadratic function 嘅 roots
② 畫返幅圖出嚟
③ 判斷攞上面定下面嗰 part
④ 寫答案

Ans:

TRY: Solve x 2+ 5 x +6 ≥ 2

TRY: Solve x 2+ 4 x + 4 ≥ 0
