Pay attention to the following:
The steps listed below contain the basic information that you would require for the documentation of
your final year project:
1. The title page should be centralized as shown in the above them with Times New Romans (14).
2. Abstract, a brief summary of the entire work (chapter 1-5), should not be written in not more that
500 words using single line spacing. It must contain introduction, aim of the study, methodology
used, findings of the study, conclusion, and recommendation for further studies. It should be
written as a prose. As much as you can, limit the abstract to one paragraph and do not itemize in it.
3. The keywords: Should basically be the 5 main words in project (or project title) and must be
arranged alphabetically.
4. The word count is the number of words in the abstract.
5. Alignment: Justify (throughout the work)
6. Only the main title e.g. CHAPTER ONE (INTRODUCTION) should be in capital letters all
through using Times New Roman (Font size: 14) and centralized.
7. Paragraphing: The paragraphing style for the body of the work should be block and not indented.
8. Capitalize the first letter of each keyword in the titles, subtitles, and subtitles. E.g
a. Background to the Study
b. Statement of the Problem
c. Historical Background of Agriculture
d. Figure 4.1: Homepage of the Web-based Agricultural System (centralized with the source
specified)
9. Subtitles and body of the work: Times New Roman (Font size: 12)
10. Line Spacing: 2.0
11. Figures: All figures should be well labeled. They should be discussed before showing them. Eg.
Figure 2.4 shows the system architecture...
12. Numbering style: You are not to number with bullet points but to choose any numbering style and
be consistent with it throughout the entire work
13. Referencing style: APA 7th Edition.
14. The NAME of the school is SCHOOL OF COMPUTING
15. The use of contractions, like don't, won't, we'll, is not allowed in formal writing as you are
expected to write in full - Do not, would not, we will,...
16. When listing inexhaustible items, the use of etc is not allowed. You can say a, b, and c, to mention
a few.
17. The similarity Index of your work should not exceed 20% and AI use should not exceed 30% as
well.
Template for Final Project Binding:
1. Cover color: Navy blue
2. Number of Copies: 3 copies for school (HOD, library, and Supervisor) and the other copies
will be based on the number of students in the group as each student is expected to have a
copy.
NOTE:
1. The similarity index of your work on Turnitin must not be more than 20% (and 30% for AI).
2. You are to run your work by your supervisors before the mini and final defence, and before
printing the final copies to ensure you have complied with the department's approved format.
3. For more clarification, you are to consult the library for sample projects as projects not
written in the format specified by the Department of Computer Science will be REJECTED.
