Pre-course Preparation Checklist
To optimise your learning:
1. Review the Scrum Guide ([Link]
2. Familiarise yourself with basic Agile terms: Sprint, Backlog, Daily Scrum, etc.
3. Reflect on how your current or previous roles relate to project delivery and team
collaboration.
4. Note any challenges you've faced with team workflow – we’ll revisit these in class.
Course Overview
The Scrum Master Certification course offers a deep dive into the Agile mindset, Scrum
principles, and the essential skills required to perform the role of a Scrum Master in today’s
fast-moving, team-oriented environment. Over the training, you will gain knowledge of the
Scrum framework, its events, artefacts, roles, and how to guide and coach Agile teams
effectively.
This pre-course pack provides a foundational overview of Scrum and Agile and introduces
concepts you will apply during the course through exercises, discussions, and group activities.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this training, learners will be able to:
• Understand and articulate the Agile mindset and values
• Explain the Scrum framework, including all roles, events, and artefacts
• Facilitate Scrum events such as Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Planning, Retrospectives, and
more
• Apply the principles of empiricism, self-management, and iterative development
• Guide teams towards continuous improvement and high performance
• Prepare for and successfully pass the Scrum Master certification exam
What is Scrum?
Scrum is a lightweight Agile framework for developing, delivering, and sustaining complex
products. It is based on empiricism (knowledge through experience) and Lean thinking.
Scrum works in short iterations called Sprints (1–4 weeks) and includes regular feedback
loops to adjust quickly.

removing blockers
• Product Owner – Owns the product vision and backlog; prioritises work based on value
• Developers – Cross-functional team members who build the product incrementally
