A. INTRODUCTION
I. Executive Summary

MISSION
To provide a nutritious, delicious, and affordable alternative to traditional meatballs
by using natural vegetable ingredients, promoting a healthier and more balanced diet for
everyone.

VISION
To establish Bolabasa as a well-known and trusted food product in Montalban and
beyond, advocating for sustainable and healthy eating choices for all.

OBJECTIVES
1. Promote healthy eating habits by offering a vegetable-based alternative to traditional
meatballs.
2. Provide an affordable and accessible option for individuals seeking a nutritious and
flavorful meat substitute.
3. Raise public awareness about the health benefits of vegetables and encourage a more
balanced diet.
4. Inspire innovation in sustainable food production by creating plant-based products
that maintain excellent taste and quality.

B. PRODUCT CONCEPT
I. Product Name
“BolaBasa”

II. Introduction
Bolabasa is the new delicacy in Montalban, Rizal which is mainly made of pumpkin
mixed with carrots and spring onions and It is deliciously cooked for everyone. Bolabasa is
an alternative for meatballs, made for people who don’t like meat but want to enjoy the taste
and texture of traditional meatballs using healthy ingredients.

It is also a healthier and budget-friendly option for those who want to have a balanced
diet without sacrificing the taste of the food.

III. Background
It is called Bolabasa because “Bola” means “balls” and “Basa” is taken from the
vegetable used in the product, “Kalabasa”.

Squash is a nutritious vegetable that contains Beta Carotene and recognized as an


excellent source of vitamins A, C, B1, B3, and B5 and minerals.

IV. Product Formulation and Ingredients


INGREDIENTS WEIGHTED QUANTITY

Grated Squash 500g 1 kilo


Grated Carrots 244g 2 cups
Chopped Spring Onions 100g 1 cup
Ground Black Pepper 2g ½ tsp
Salt 2g ½ tsp
Sugar 2g ½ tsp
Egg 100g 2 large eggs
All Purpose Flour 300g 2 cups
Oil 240g 1 ½ cups

PRODUCT RECIPE PROCEDURE


a. Ingredients: (Makes approximately 15-20 pieces)
 4 cups squash (kalabasa), grated and drained
 2 cups carrots, finely grated
 1 cup spring onions, finely chopped
 ½ teaspoon ground black pepper (pamintang powder)
 ½ teaspoon salt
 2 large egg
 2 cups all-purpose flour

b. Cooking Procedure
1. Prepare the vegetables:
– Grate the squash and carrots. Squeeze out excess moisture using a clean cloth
or strainer to prevent soggy texture.
– Finely chop the spring onions.

2. Mix the ingredients:


– In a large mixing bowl, combine grated squash, carrots, and spring onions.
– Add black pepper, salt, and any optional seasonings. Mix well.

3. Bind the mixture:


– Crack an egg into the mixture and stir until evenly distributed.
– Gradually add the flour, mixing until the ingredients are well combined and
the mixture holds together.

4. Shape into balls:


– Scoop about 1 tablespoon of the mixture and roll it into small balls.
– If the mixture is too wet, add a little more flour. If too dry, add a few drops of
water or an extra beaten egg.
5. Cook the squash balls:
– Frying method: Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry the balls until golden
brown and crispy (about 3-5 minutes per batch). Drain excess oil on a paper
towel.

6. Serve and enjoy!


– Best served hot with a dipping sauce like sweet chili, garlic mayo, or tomato
ketchup.

 The squash balls inside are realistic in appearance, with a golden-orange
color and finely blended spring onions for a natural texture.
