LESSON PLAN in MATHEMATICS II


I. OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the 60 minutes lesson, the grade II pupils will be able to:
a. Compare length in meters or centimeters using relation symbols >, <, =;
b. Identify the measurement of an object using meter or centimeters;
c. Differentiate meter (m) and centimeter (cm).
II. SUBJECT MATTER:
a. Topic: Measuring Lengths using Standard Units of Measure.

III. PROCEDURE:
A. Preparation
Good morning my grade II pupils, how are you today? (We are fine, thank you) Are
you ready for today’s lesson? (Yes, we are) Very Good. Then show me that you are
ready, I will be giving you 10 seconds to arrange your chairs and pick up the pieces of
papers under your table. 1, 2, 3, … Okay another 10 seconds to prepare and fix yourself.
1, 2, 3 …. Excellent! Are you now ready class? (Yes, we are). But before we start our
proper lesson, let us go back and remind ourselves of the things we should do in this time
of pandemic. Who can tell me what are the things we should follow and remember?
(Wear and use facemask, observed social distancing, wash your hands, sanitized hands
with alcohol) Okay very good, we should always remember these things to avoid
spreading virus and to always keep ourselves healthy. This time everybody look at the
board, what do you see? (Ruler) Have you ever seen and use a ruler? (Yes) How many
rulers are there in the board? (3) Okay, meaning those rulers will represent each group.
What do you think is lacking to those rulers? (Numbers) Yes, numbers. Do you want to
complete the ruler with numbers? (Yes teacher) then you need to follow few rules during
our class discussion to earn points and prizes later on after our discussion.

B. Presentation
a. Motivation
Show the class a picture of school supplies.
What have you seen in this picture? (pencil, eraser sharpener color, notebook and
bag)
b. Listening to the story
The teacher reads the story, stops once in a while and asks questions.

Cerca ya tamen el clase. Si Ñor Teryo ya anda na grande tienda y ya compra ele
maga cosa de escuela para di suyo maga anak. Ya compra ele lapis, burador,
agusador, Crayola, cuaderno y bag. Bien alegre gayot el di suyo maga anak
cuando ya mira el cosa ele ya compra.

C. Discussion:
These are the objects mention in the story, we have pencil, eraser, color, sharpener,
notebook and a bag. Now, I will be teaching you how to measure these objects. First, we
have to identify what are the short objects mention? (pencil, eraser, color, sharpener,
notebook) And what are the long objects? (Bag) Always remember when we are
measuring short objects, we use centimeter and a ruler, while measuring long objects we
use meter and a meter stick or steal tape. (Compare the difference, Demonstrate and show
examples)

E. Generalization
Centimeter and meter are the standard unit of measurement use to measure length.
Centimeter (cm) is used to measure short objects using a ruler.
Meter (m) is used to measure long objects using meter stick or steel tape.

F. Application
Activity 1
Direction: Write the correct unit of measure on the space provided. Write (m) for
Meter and (cm) for centimeter.
